Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Pcortescom", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username, by completing this form, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 10:48, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I would emphasize that you need to review the paid editing policy(linked to in the above post) if you are editing Wikipedia for a client. That policy requires you per Wikipedia's Terms of Use to clearly declare any paid editing relationships you have. Thanks 331dot (talk) 10:49, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your reply. Please put any further replies here, I will see them. I would let you know that the distinction you are drawing will be tough for many editors to see. The paid editing policy states "If you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, either directly or indirectly, you must disclose who is paying you to edit (your "employer"), who the client is, and any other relevant role or relationship." Even if your client is not technically paying you to edit Wikipedia, you still have a paid relationship with them as presumably you are being paid by the client to represent their interests somewhere. Even leaving that aside, you should still review the conflict of interest policy(WP:COI) and declare any COI you have(even if you are not paid) and follow the other aspects of the policy before you edit. If you have any questions, please ask. Thanks 331dot (talk) 11:02, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
