Regarding your edits to U Live and TVNZ U articles[edit]

Please refrain from including significantly time-sensitive information in Wikipedia articles, such as results of polls and voting situations, as the article does not rely on this information and it is not pertinent to the discussion of the article U live. You do not need to notify people of the result of the poll from the first U live episode. I have undone the changes you have made.

Also, please avoid repeating references - reuse them instead. I have settled on the listing of some shows available in each of themed segments on TVNZ U, but if you could again avoid duplication of titles (i.e. the segment is already called U tv, you don't need to say there is a show called U tv as well) that would be much appreciated.

Wikipedia is a large community, and if we all respect one another and, most importantly, refrain from attacking each other in the comments of edits, it would be greatly appreciated. :) Smctainsh (talk) 06:28, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yea i understand about it may not be relevant i put the information there as more of a filler for U live as for U it self yea i didnt know weither to repeat the names or not??? so i just put it there if i needed deleting or not. as for time sensitive well yea kinda but i only put the results of polls which had closed oh and how do u reuse a reference i tried to do that couldn't figure out how.
I totally understand where you're coming from, although it's often better to go for quality rather than quantity with these articles. They will naturally grow as the history of the channel does, so it's normal to see a (relative) lack of information at this time. Yeah, it's better to try to not repeat the name of the shows when the title is the same, because as is the case with TVNZ U, the theme name for the night often comes up as a show during the evening. Information such as poll results is often unnecessary, unless it directly relates to the article in question. For example, if the article were about the public opinion of Charlie Sheen, you would possibly have grounds for its inclusion then. To re-use references, name it when you first use it: <ref name="myreference">http://google.com/</ref>, and use this when you want to use it again: <ref name="myreference" />. New Challenge for Oceania and Australia[edit]

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Cheers.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay[edit]

Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
