MMA Fighter style - Qileng Aori[edit]

Hello Ikamborden, Good day. You edit has been reverted regarding the fighter style in the infobox. Pls note and again, the mma fighter style is as per Wikipedia MMA guidelines. Pls read WP:MMA to familiar yourself and I have copied and pasted it there for you - " Do not use the style parameter from the

Ikamborden

in MMA biographical articles. Modern MMA requires training several fighting styles, which means that no mixed martial artist uses a single style when fighting. References that describe martial arts ranks (i.e. black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) and/or martial arts training (i.e. training boxing) are not evidence of fighting style and are not valid to justify a fighting style in an infobox. Do not add your own interpretation of a fighting style. The style parameter should only be used in MMA fighters that have participated professionally or in international competitions in other combat sports (i.e. boxing or kickboxing) and who are notable in said sports and deserve an article for their merits in these other sports (i.e. Antônio Rogério Nogueira, Alistair Overeem). It is suggested to MMA editors that they actively remove the style parameter in infoboxes of MMA fighters that do not meet these criteria." Cassiopeia talk 23:07, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ikamborden, the style in the infobox not only need to comply with the Wikipedia MMA style guidelines, but it also needs to mee verification guidelines which means if the article "sourced" content does not indicate the style as per comply to the guidelines and even we know which style the subject is under, we ca NOT use it. I am getting sick of tidying up your mistakes. Stop ignoring editors who are asking you to stop disruption. I will go to ANI as the next option. NEDOCHAN (talk) 17:14, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So which article did I disrupted this time? Would you mind list it to me please? At least let me know where and what I did wrong (Sorry for my poor English by the way). Ikamborden (talk) 20:47, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@NEDOCHAN: Loop in NEDOCHAN. Ikamborden, you need to ping the editor who you send the message to so they would receive a notification of your message so NEDOCHAN can reply you. As for me, I have informed you countless time not to add any "style" info unless they are as per the MMA Style guidelines of Wikipedia which I have also send you the link of the guidelines and also copy and paste the guidelines to you. In addition you have receive many times warnings on this and still you continue ignore the warnings. When experience editors tell you something and send you the link, pls follow the guidelines. If you dont understand due to language issues then do "nothing" on the style parameter on the infobox (not add any info). I dont wish you to be banned as you do add other constructive edits but about the style issue, you need to follow the guidelines or stop editing anything about the style for the MMA fighter, and if not you will be brought to ANI and most likely you will receive a topic banned (cant edit any MMA fighter pages) for good. So pls listen and do what is rightful. Cassiopeia talk 00:41, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ever since last time you warned me about the rules, I have only add style to fighters who participated professionally or in international competitions in other combat sports, just as you said. However, this time I really don’t know which article I disrupted… Ikamborden (talk) 01:17, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ikamborden, It is not that the MMA fighters had/participated an international fights or professional fight. We dont add that in the sytle parameter in the infobox. Here again - the style MMA guidelines - see below the bold text:

"Do not use the style parameter from the in MMA biographical articles. It is suggested to MMA editors that they actively remove the style parameter in infoboxes of MMA fighters that do not meet these criteria." I have removed many of the recent style edits and I didnt info you as I have informed you of this issues so many times. So only do add the style, if the fighters participate in the professional international fight of the sport but also the fight needs to be notable on the said combat sport and the info need to be supported by independent, reliable source for verification (very importanat). (example: if a fighter participate in ADCC BJJ competition and no wins or no known for the particular said sport, we dont add the style in, but if a fighter won the world sambo championship (such as Islam and Khabib) then we add them in the style info box parameter). If we are not sure and no source to support such claim, don add anything. Thank you and stay safe. Cassiopeia talk 01:30, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I understand. Although my English is not very well, I still know the rule: must have participated professionally or in international competitions in other combat sports, and have to be notable enough in said sports. However, I wonder how successful enough could make a fighter worth enough to be called “notable” in those sports? Here’s some questions of mine (sorry for my poor English again):
  1. Does the fighter have to win the championship, or at least take the silver/bronze medal? What if he/she missed the medal, but still generally in the top overall (ranked 4th to 10th, etc)? Or, if his/her final grade was even lower, but managed to defeated top-scaled contestants like Vinny Magalhães or Fabrício Werdum, did he/she still be considered “no known for the particular said sport”? (For the same reason, if a fighter have a successful career in professional kickboxing but still didn’t won the championship before transitioned into MMA? Or worse, he/she gained more defeats than wins (for example 10 fights 3 wins 7 loses). But still, he/she successfully defeated opponents like Tenshin Nasukawa or Buakaw Banchamek. In this case, did he/she meets the criteria or not?)
  2. Let’s suppose a fighter who started his/her career from boxing: after a couple of amateur competitions, he/she was able to face opponent like Mayweather (Or not so exaggerated, just a random boxer who strong enough for Wikipedia to create an article for him/her) in a professional fight and successfully defeated the latter. However, for a variety of reasons, the fighter did not continuing his/her boxing career, but quickly drifted to MMA instead. In that case, did he/she worthy enough to deemed “notable” for style-adding?
  3. What if a fighter did participated professionally in other combat sports and made great success, but for some reason, he/she was unable to fight with foreign fighters nor fighting overseas. Therefore before transitioning into MMA and slowly gained his/her reputations abroad, the fighter was only known in his/her own country (For example, Edson Barboza was a professional Muay Thai kickboxer with the fighting record of 25–3. But according the incomplete fight record in his Wiki article, it seems that he never participated international tournaments before moved to America and start his MMA career. As well as for some Sumo-turned MMA fighters, because it’s hard for a sumo wrestler to reach higher ranks even if they did managed to win dozens or even hundreds of tournaments…if you know what I mean).Did this fighter still consider “no known” in this situation?
  4. According to his article, aside from Sambo, Khabib is also won European Champion of pankration and ARB(Armeyskiy Rukopashniy Boy, Army Hand-to-Hand Combat) and NAGA World Championship No-Gi Champion. Also, there’s video on YouTube showing he participated in pankration tournament as well. But now his style info parameter only shows Sambo. Is it because the source were unreliable, or there’s other reason that makes you decide to deleted other styles?
  5. In some articles, it says that a fighter had won championships and accomplishments in other international/professional combat sports other than MMA, and the editor of the article did added sources on relevant parts of the article as well. But they didn’t added fight and/or medal records at all (for example the newly created article of Azerbaijani fighter Tofiq Musayev, it only said that he “became Asian Pankration Champion in 2016 and world champion in Kung Fu while studying at the Azerbaijan Sports Academy” without any other record other than a few sources in Azerbaijani language(And personally, by the way, I found it’s hardly to find fight records other than MMA, Kickboxing and Boxing.))…I know usually it means that these sources are unreliable. But if the sources were indeed independent and reliable (i.e. from professional MMA website/medias like Sherdog or other formal sports databases/news media, or something. Although it may not written in English), would you still delete the edit if I or someone add it to the fighter’s style info box?
Please pardon my repetitive, sir. I’m really don’t meant to make trouble or irritate you. I just want to gain more information so that I could never do the same wrongful editing again. Ikamborden (talk) 08:23, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am struggling to assume good faith. Unless you truly think Kevin Holland would have an article about him due to his Kung Fu notability.https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=1143096161&oldid=1141152764&title=Kevin_Holland NEDOCHAN (talk) 08:46, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Final warning[edit]

Hi. It seems your intention is to troll and I can no longer assume good faith. @Cassiopeia: . https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Benson_Henderson&diff=prev&oldid=1143896821 this shows you are intentionally disrupting. As a courtesy, this is your final warning. If you make another edit like this I am sure Cass will support me in asking for an admin to review at ANI. NEDOCHAN (talk) 15:35, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

{{ping|NEDOCHAN}} Pardon me, but Henderson himself is a IBJJF World Championship bronze medalist(and also have reliable sources in his article)…does it still not worth enough to meet the criteria to add to his “style’’?
I really not meant to be troll or insulting you… Ikamborden (talk) 04:20, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
{{ping|Cassiopeia}} Excuse me sir, in Benson Henderson’s article, it said that he is an IBJJF World no-go Championship bronze medalist in 2014 (and I’ve checked the sources in this article and found it’s true). So I added “BJJ” in his style info parameter. But the editor still warned me about that. Did Henderson himself still not meet the criteria because he’s not the champion? Or it’s because the sources in his wiki article are still not independent and/or reliable enough?
I’m not meant to bother you sir… Ikamborden (talk) 04:42, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
See Cass's section in bold above. Henderson would obviously not have an article about him on account of his BJJ. NEDOCHAN (talk) 19:00, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
