Thanks also

Thanks also for the advice and the "4-1-1" on my editing habits. I will desist. Littlemo 19:29, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Oops, good catch re: CF

Hi there, thanks for catching the redundant "breathing" in my edit. That's what comes when you pay more attention to the edit summary than the edit! --Tachikoma 00:19, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Addendum to that: I was debating whether "chronic difficulties in breathing" is a better wording than my latest idea, "chronic breathing difficulties". Feel free to pick whichever sounds best. --Tachikoma 00:23, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
You raise a good point regarding the effects of humidity, etc. on breathing, but honestly I had been thinking primarily about the rhythm of the sentence. I think "chronic difficuties in breathing" has a better rhythm, but "chronic breathing difficulties" is more concise. So, which is better — a more flowing sentence, or a shorter one? At this moment, I think the more flowing sentence makes for a better paragraph. --Tachikoma 15:53, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
You're welcome. I really like making small fixes to articles, like improving the writing, fixing redirects, etc. --Tachikoma 15:37, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for keeping an eye on the Nora Roberts article with me. :) I'm going to try to re-write it to a much higher standard -- she deserves it, IMO. I'd appreciate your input, mind if I drop you a note when I've got something posted? Estreya 22:11, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

I just started a section on the commons for Drexel imeages. --evrik 16:41, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Yeah I used that tag because I know it'll take a while to work on this, and I don't want to discourage anyone from working on it. Thanks for the start on the images on commons! --ImGz 16:46, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Do you want to improve upon my oar blade for Drexel and place it on this page? There is an image on this page.

I would use this image as a template and the dragon from Drexel-logo.gif. Use this image Image:UC Irvine rowing blade.png as a guide.

If you are interested in this, I would replace the image in the commons in these categories, commons:Category:Drexel_University and commons:Category:Rowing --evrik 16:00, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Question

Since you were the person who uploaded it, I thought I'd ask, regarding the licensing of the Delta Gamma crest, are we allowed to use the crest in, for example, userboxes? I'm trying to design a userbox with the crest, and am not sure if it's allowed. I plan on eventually making userboxes for all of the NPC groups eventually. -Elizabennet 17:47, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Good luck with the page. I'm glad that others are taking an interest in upgrading it. I've been watching it for awhile, but mostly I've focused on ensuring that references are added properly. However, it was the addition of the to-do list on the discussion page that inspired me to add some information about my old college. (2003 grad) Keep up the good work. I was wondering how you were going to add links to the colleges -- perhaps the Cornell University page has a good idea...creating a nice table with links? -RockyRaccoon 04:25, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Re: Male adult bio template

Thanks for writing and, yes, I should have checked that, my mistake. The current standard for infoboxes and all other uses is "image", just like the images themselves (similar to the style discussion on "film" v. "movie" settled on "film"). I'll check the pages linked, and thanks again. :) RadioKirk (u|t|c) 17:57, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

I think it might be possible to request semi-protection on the page since there has been a lot of reverting lately. As far as the block is concerned; I've already left two warnings on the page, if the anon editor does it one more time the person can be reported to WP:AIV. Admins usually want 2 or 3 warnings before they block someone. --† Ðy§ep§ion † Speak your mind 20:37, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

This person needs to be blocked from editing, they clearly have a personal vendetta against Phi Sigma Sigma. Organizations do not need to be issuing injuctions to stop people on revealing secrets, its completely unecessary. This person needs to drop their issue with Phi Sigma Sigma and blocked from editing. I support porotection for this article or block/ban the user. --Samwisep86 21:21, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Well, you're going to have a very, very tough time banning an anonymous user who comes in from a random IP address that is changed every time her computer reconnects to the internet!! 68.8.60.164 22:48, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

seeking feedback on lung transplantation article in my sandbox

Hi ImGz (or Candice?), I've been working on an article on lung transplantation, and the latest version is in my sandbox. It's only the beginning of what I hope to make of the article, so it's very much in the preliminary stages. I understand that you know a lot about transplantation issues, and I would greatly appreciate any feedback that you might have. Thanks! --Kyoko 14:38, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi there, and thank you for your kind words. Yes, I am getting better, but it will take some time, as depression and anorexia are things that I've grappled with since high school.
Anyway, I have just uploaded my latest revisions of the lung transplantation article and the lung allocation score article. The lung tx article still feels to me like a bunch of lists with some text added on. I don't yet know how much of the surgical procedure should be described.
The LAS article risks getting really technical, as there are a whole bunch of mathematical formulas that are involved. There's info on exactly how you calculate the LAS somewhere on the United Network for Organ Sharing website. I have no clue how they came up with those formulas, but I suspect that they will probably have to be included in the final article. I hope that the little bit that I've written so far is at least understandable.
I'll keep working on these articles whenever I'm in the mood. Feel free to make changes in my sandboxes, but if you do, could you please leave me a message telling me what was done? That way, I won't just copy and paste over whatever changes you might have made. Thanks for your input, and I hope that you are doing well! --Kyoko 14:08, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Update: the lung allocation score article is pretty far along. I still haven't decided whether or not to include the many formulas that are involved in calculating the score. It still needs references (something I have to figure out here on Wikipedia), but I think it does a pretty good job at explaining the role of the LAS and how it is used. --Kyoko 05:34, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank You!

Thanks for taking up the issue of the deletes of the Soka Gakkai International reference on the Orlando Bloom page. As I am learning, there is a person or persons (likely a small group) who have a major opposition to the religious organization, to the point of trying to wipe it from public consciousness. I am not a member, and I have some questions about the organization myself, but that's not the issue here. The fact is that Orlando Bloom publicly acknowledges his membership. Many other famous people are members of controversial religious groups, like Scientology and Kabbalah, yet there does not seem to be a campaign to eliminate reference to their religious belief from their Wikipedia page. --Jrhoadley talk 13:13 12 October 2006

James Avery

I am disambiguating links to James Avery. I noticed that you had a To Do on your user page to 'Create the James Avery article.' I was wondering which James Avery you were planning to create - because I had been thinking of starting something on the jeweler. BigrTex 19:51, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Would you mind looking over my lung allocation score article?

Hi there, I ended up doing more work on the lung allocation score article than on the lung tx one. The LAS article is currently in my sandbox. I didn't include the many formulas that are involved in calculating the LAS, and I wouldn't know how to include them in wiki-format.

If you do happen to look at the article, could you please tell me what you think? I think that it does a good job explaining the concept and that it's ready to be put online, but I may be too close to the text to make an objective judgement of it. No need to rush, I understand that you have other things to do. Thanks, and I hope that you are doing well. --Kyoko 14:26, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I just put the lung allocation score article in the mainspace. The lung tx one still needs work IMHO, especially in explaining the procedure and citing references (something I really have to learn to do). Just thought you would like to know. I hope that your workload has lessened and that you're doing well. Thanks, --Kyoko 21:35, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

lung tranpslant article might be ready

Hi there, I've done some more work on the lung tx article, and I think it's advanced far enough to put online, where hopefully someone better versed in medicine than myself will improve it. I hope that other people (perhaps yourself?) will work on it, because to be honest, I'm a little burned out from reading and rereading the text. The article is still in my sandbox. As you know, the current lung transplantation link is a redirect to the organ transplant article. I have no idea how to change that. I also haven't figured out how to properly cite references, so I just put them in parentheses whenever a specific reference was used. When you can, could you please tell me what you think? Thank you very much. --Kyoko 18:33, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Update: The article better be ready, because I have just put it online! Yay! --Kyoko 18:59, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the barnstar re: lung tx

Hi there, yeah, I was getting a bit burned out from medicine in real life too, which also made me not want to work on the article until this morning. Thanks for the barnstar! That's the second award I've gotten today (the first is in my awards page! I've been working from printouts of websites, as well as the Merck Manual. I ended up buying the thing, because it's handy for reference. I think there's an online version too. I will get those website addresses to you later, and I might try to put some citations myself. Anything to increase my edit count. Which, by the way, just passed 2500 (850 something mainspace, though). I hope you are doing well. Thanks again! --Kyoko 19:37, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

I knew I forgot something...

Hi there, I knew I forgot something in the lung tx article. I was watching TV when it struck me: I entirely forgot to finish the procedure section! I've read about the procedure from a number of sources, but I would have to think a bit about how to word it. Now that the article is online, maybe someone else can fill in the details if I don't get to it first. --Kyoko 12:59, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi, one of my meds gives me insomnia, so here I am at 4 AM. I see you've been busy with the lung tx article. Thanks for filling in the details! I knew that basically the native lung is deflated and the blood vessels tied off, but now that you've explained it, it saves me having to worry about what to say.
I'm still not sure how to say the references, so I hope you don't mind if I just put them in the talk page of the article. I'm just about to do that right now. --Kyoko 12:01, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
I also thought I would mention that I'm now on editor review. I am very interested in what you think. --Kyoko 13:49, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
In your edit summary, you write: "didn't want double to have all the fun :)" You're funny. --Kyoko 18:44, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

I am really amazed

Hi Candice, as I said on the Talk:Lung transplantation page, I was adding a note about the need to consciously cough, at about the same time you were suggesting it on the talk page. In other words, I never saw your comment until after I had finished, so we were basically thinking the same thing at about the same time. Weird, huh? --Kyoko 17:25, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

did you get my e-mail?

Hi there, did you get my e-mail? If you didn't, basically I worry about hurting other people's feelings, and I'm afraid that I might have hurt yours. I've been told that I worry too much about hurting other people's feelings, and I think that because of that, I should never become an administrator. Anyway, enough of me rambling. I hope you are doing well in all things. --Kyoko 14:13, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

take a look at the the latest CF revisions

Hi there, I wanted to point out to you that a number of additions and changes have been made to the article on cystic fibrosis. Some of them add info that I think helps the article, and some of them might make things too unclear for people without a scientific or medical background. Some of them, like the change from "Symptoms and signs" to "Symptoms and Signs" are just stylistic differences. I thought I would mention these to you because you've watched over this article far longer than I have, and you probably have a better feel for how best to word things than I do. I hope you're doing well, and that final exams don't stress you out. Take care, --Kyoko 23:59, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

info on infertility

please don't just blindly provide a statement of infertility across the board in CF. This is a negligent attitude and there have been a couple of studies showing this is a morally reprehensible practice since most females with CF are fertile and need to be aware of this. I've provided you with the full text to a half a dozen articles in the discussion section including two which specifically refute the early high claims of infertility in women with CF. Luckily, I've been told my whole life that I am fertile, but I know that others were long told that they likely were not and this has resulted in some poor planning. Knowledge is power -- don't just keep perpetuating something that is false. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.99.72.189 (talk) 14:28, 7 December 2006 (UTC).
