Starting a peer review

Hi. Whilst my peer review for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is ongoing, I was about to start contributing to the peer review (and told the nominator I would after he contributed to Remastered's) for Microsoft Flight Simulator. However I've just noticed it hasn't even reached GA status yet (which the contributor plans to do before moving onto to FAC), and per our discussion at FAC you indicated I should contribute to a review for an article currently looking to get to FAC in order to better understand the process and what editors will be looking for. Would you recommend I contribute to another article or is Microsoft Flight Simulator fine? I thought that as it's a video game like Remastered it would be beneficial, and also one I'd be more comfortable with. Wikibenboy94 (talk) 17:04, 31 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi there, Ben. This is really up to you. I think it’s probably better if you throw yourself into some FAC discussions (look through the criteria, and look through the article; is it clearly explained? is it well-sourced? is it judicious in its language?) rather than PR (which is basically just several concurrent GA reviews). But helping people with their projects is always a good idea. What I might even recommend is reviewing Gog the Mild's FAC (above); Gog is—as you know—one of the FAC coordinators, and he'd be able to give you feedback on your comments (if the mood so struck him), if you asked him to! Sorry for the delay. — ImaginesTigers (talk) 19:38, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
@ImaginesTigers: Thanks, I'll look into Gog's peer review. As a side note, I understand you're currently really busy with everything, but I wasn't sure if you were still occasionally popping over to Remastered's as I may have a significant problem with regards to expanding the Gameplay section using Call of Duty 4's sources, and have held off on attempting it for the moment until I'd heard back from you. Wikibenboy94 (talk) 19:52, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
@Wikibenboy94: Afraid to say but I'm unavailable for a while. I just don't have time for any wiki stuff at the moment. Apologies, but push on nonetheless; you know what you must do, and I believe in ya! — ImaginesTigers (talk) 21:22, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
@ImaginesTigers: Sorry I should have clarified but it was basically that the three sources available I don't think should be used at all, which cite the game's official guide, the game itself, and a source generally not deemed reliable on WP:VG/S; I'm kinda at a loss. No other editor apart from yourself has yet raised a concern about the section, but if I do I'll explain my predicament and hopefully someone can help find a way around it. Wikibenboy94 (talk) 21:48, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
Wikibenboy94, If these three primary sources are your only option, then it's fine. Primary sources are used when no other secondary, reliable source can take its place. However, I found this to be unlikely. According to WP:VG/RS, "...instruction booklets, player's guides, and other game-related publications may be cited as normal." In this case, how-to guides from reliable sources (I'm talking IGN's, not fandoms), can be cited in this place. IGN has an overview wiki here, if this helps. Panini🥪 13:09, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification Panini!, however what you'd linked was for the newer Call of Duty: Modern Warfare not Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (easy to get the two mixed up!). I'll see if IGN have one for that game, or look somewhere else if not. Wikibenboy94 (talk) 15:38, 3 February 2021 (UTC)

Thebaid

I can see from the last posts on here that you're probably rather busy. I thought I'd still bring this to your attention: I've overhauled the Thebaid (Latin poem) article and nominated it for GA. Now, since you've worked on the Odyssey GA and reviewed Aetia (Callimachus), I thought you might be the perfect editor to review it. Don't worry if you've got enough on your plate already. Hope you're doing fine otherwise. Best, Modussiccandi (talk) 21:45, 31 January 2021 (UTC)

Good to hear from you, Modussiccandi. My time is, as you've guessed, on short supply right now. I don't have the time to review the article for a little while. A quick glance tells me in the article's in good shape (better even than Aetia was, too!). References 17 and 39 are broken, in case you didn't notice those. If it’s still outstanding in a few weeks, I'll chime in! — ImaginesTigers (talk) 19:38, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
Thanks a lot; I actually didn't see that those refs were broken. Let's hope the article disappears from the GAN list before too long. Best and happy editing, Modussiccandi (talk) 19:41, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi there, thanks for responding to my inquiry on the GAN talk page before ([1]), sorry I didn't respond before as I did not recieve the ping (Spy-circle seems to understandably be a common misspelling of my username). If you're still up for it, I would be greatly appreciate it if you could give the article a review, no worries if you decided to change your mind. Regards  Spy-cicle💥  Talk? 04:07, 3 February 2021 (UTC)

Oh actually it seems as if someone else has just picked up the review Talk:Frank Bailey (firefighter)/GA1.  Spy-cicle💥  Talk? 18:40, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
@Spy-cicle: Hi there, Spy-cicle. Sorry about that. I'm really, really busy right now with university, and I don't really have time for any Wiki-work. I'm really glad someone has picked it up for you, though! — ImaginesTigers (talk) 18:42, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
Ah no worries (it ended up passing :) ). Regards  Spy-cicle💥  Talk? 23:02, 4 February 2021 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of The Blood of the Vampire

The article The Blood of the Vampire you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:The Blood of the Vampire for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. In appreciation

The Featured Article Medal
By the authority vested in me by myself it gives me great pleasure to present you with this special, very exclusive award created just for we few, we happy few, this band of brothers, who have shed sweat, tears, and probably blood, in order to be able to proudly claim "I too have taken an article to Featured status". Gog the Mild (talk) 10:56, 12 February 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, Gog. What a weight off my back! There has been no blood but there has been some near-tears and by god there has been some back-pain (and mind-pain from reading about League of Legends). — ImaginesTigers (talk) 19:51, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

Million award

The Million Award
For your contributions to bring League of Legends (estimated annual readership: 1,100,000) to Featured Article status, I hereby present you the Million Award. Congratulations on this rare accomplishment, and thanks for all you do for Wikipedia's readers! Ovinus (talk) 11:05, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

As one of the more vexatious reviewers at FAC, thought I should give you the award. Congratulations, and if you still have the same sentiment you shared on Discord, let this be the end of an odyssey and the start of comparative relaxation. ;) Warmly, Ovinus (talk) 11:05, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

You weren't vexatious; you were thorough, and the article is better for it, Ovinus. I really appreciate the award! I will add it to my lovely little shelf, and hopefully within a year can add another so that League of Legends isn't in a position of significance :) — ImaginesTigers (talk) 19:51, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

Promotion of League of Legends

Congratulations, ImaginesTigers! The article you nominated, League of Legends, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best articles on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main page as Today's featured article. Keep up the great work! Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) via FACBot (talk) 12:06, 12 February 2021 (UTC)
Congratulations and Good Job! You must be the king of the million awards with a total of five, giving a splash of color to these very important articles. The rate you're doing this makes me believe you're a superhuman; you deserve a sticker for your hard work! Panini🥪 14:52, 12 February 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, Panini. The process was exhausting, a genuine odyssey serving as another turn of the screw. Thankfully, although there was tears and sweat, there was no blood, and nobody got into a fight or a riot or anything. — ImaginesTigers (talk) 19:51, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

Merchandise Giveaway nomination

A Wikimedia t-shirt!
You deserve a thank you!

Congrats on yet another million-qualifying FA article!
I've nominated you for a gift from the Wikimedia Foundation.

-- {{u|Sdkb}}talk 09:12, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

@Sdkb: That's really kind of you. I don't think I deserve this (this is my first FA, and my other MAs have been GAs!), but I appreciate it the thought. I didn't know this existed. :) — ImaginesTigers (talk) 13:40, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
Oops, small trout Self-trout for me about FA/GA; I've corrected above. That's a triviality, though; you definitely deserve it! {{u|Sdkb}}talk 19:38, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
You very suddenly received a wopping 600 points in the Wikicup for League of Legends, so if you could please back down so I could retain my fourth place spot that would be great. Panini🥪 05:22, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
@Panini!: Points will reset in two weeks, and I won't be participating much in the second round. — ImaginesTigers (talk) 11:15, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
ImaginesTigers, I really hope you know I was messing with you. Keep up the good work! Panini🥪 16:36, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

Wikiproject Video games Newsletter survey

Hello Tigers! I'm conducting a feature for the video games newsletter similar to that of a survey. I'm going to ask users their opinions on a specific matter and highlight unique and common answers to determine consensus on a subject. Your input would be very valuable, alongside others, to help answer this question.

The question is: How do you determine what makes a video game character notable enough for their own page? Do you follow pre-existing guidelines or have your own opinions on the matter?
