Hi, I just created this accound less than an hour ago because I wanted to ask the uploader of an image file for permission to use that image in my thesis. My username is simply my acronym (Iordan Marinov Iordanov --> imiordanov), so I really am baffled as to why it is offensive or otherwise unacceptable. I put a link to my personal user page in order not to have an empty user page because my Github page contains all the info about me. I was (and am) planning to put a brief description on my Wikipedia page too, so that was a preliminary edit. Hello again, and thank you for your rapid intervention. I appreciate your understanding. However, I would like to keep my username as 'imiordanov', this is an alias I have been using everywhere: email, Github, Twitter... The website I posted on my user page is my personal webpage, so it does not represent a group or organisation. I can remove that link from my user page, I don't insist on having it there. I know my profile is brand new and my contributions non-existing, but I would prefer to keep my identity nonetheless, if possible. Thank you, imiordanov (talk) 10:00, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and unblock you. So long as you don't use your username to advertise or promote your website or yourself anywhere, I'll go ahead and let you use it. I apologize if the block and notice came so quick and sudden - you'd be surprised as to how many accounts are created where the user's purpose is to use their userpage to promote their website or themselves :-). Thank you so much for understanding! :) I can imagine that a site as big as Wikipedia must be getting quite a handful on a daily basis, and it's people like you who keep it nice and tidy for all other users. I'm sorry if I caused any trouble or concern, and I can assure you I am not looking to advertise myself or a product or anything else, I just needed to ask someone a question.
