Speedy deletion nomination of Mark Batterson[edit]

A tag has been placed on Mark Batterson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Removing Speedy at Mark Batterson[edit]

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles you created, as you did with Mark Batterson. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
Make your case on the article's talk page.

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Mark Batterson. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. You must explain why the article should remain. If you remove the tag again and have not added discussion to Talk:Mark Batterson, I will assume you have nothing further to explain why the article should stay and delete it for lack of assertion of significance. —C.Fred (talk) 18:46, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mark Batterson[edit]

I and other editors don't see this article as meeting notability guidelines. As for the timing, I sse you are new so you may not be aware of this, editors like myself participate in "new page patrolling" reviewing newly created articles to ensure they meet Wikipedia guidelines. Sometimes its as simple as placing tags to remind editors to include references or provide well formed introductory sentences. But for articles which do not meet inclusion guidelines, they are marked for deletion. An administrator reviews the tagged articles and deletes if necessary or recommends some other course. Speedy deletion was declined by an administrator because of the claim of "national best seller", this needs to be referenced soon or the article will marked for discussion by a wider audience where a decision will be make to either delete it or keep it. Also in the future if you plan to continue actively working on the article, consider creating it in your user space first. This will allow you to complete a fully referenced article before introducing it into the main article space.
