The detailed material you've added to Category:Fires in Kuwait is in the wrong place. Content like this, if it belongs anywhere in Wikipedia, belongs in an article such as Kuwaiti oil fires or Firefighting. I've already removed this material twice. Please move it elsewhere. Also, it may also need editing to achieve a neutral point-of-view. Right now it reads from the inventor's point of view. Also, if it was copied from a copyrighted source, it should be removed ASAP. Best wishes, - Stepheng3 (talk) 20:00, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kuwaiti oil fires

[edit]

Hi!

I noticed that you added a link to WikiProject Kuwait to the article Kuwaiti oil fires. I have reverted your edit per Wikipedia:Self-references, which discourages mentioning Wikipedia projects or processes within articles, and just wanted to let you know of this. The standard way to indicate that the article is in the scope of WikiProject Kuwait is by adding the WikiProject's banner ({{WP Kuwait}}) to article's talk page. In the case of the article Kuwaiti oil fires, WikiProject Kuwait's banner is already on the talk page.

Cheers, –Black Falcon (Talk) 21:59, 23 May 2009 (UTC) Uncle G, your unhelpful autocratic dismissal of an effort, to put an informative article on Wikipedia are not helpful. You tell me one thing Stwalkerster is suggesting another. I have asked you both to help me write an article that will conform to Wiki's expectation but neither of you will help edit what I have presented. Who, is able to help me include some picture with this article so that the readership can have a clear idea as to what went on in Kuwaiti Oil fields in 1991. I agree with Stwalkerster that a better place for this article would be in Kuwaiti Oil Fires section. Suggest what needs to be removed from this article that will remove the self promotion you find unacceptable![reply]

Incessant self-promotion: Are you here to write an encyclopaedia?

[edit]

You've been here, both with this account and with the IP addresses 86.3.139.88 (talk · contribs) and 86.3.132.97 (talk · contribs), for almost twelve months, now. During that time you have done nothing else than dump the same text into various pages on Wikipedia, in apparent furtherance of some external grievance with the government of Kuwait that has nothing to do with Wikipedia, and abusing Wikipedia as a soapbox to stand upon to broadcast your point of view to the world. You've dumped the text into articles, into category pages, into the user talk pages of the editors who have communicated with you on this very page about this issue (back in November 2008), and have most recently taken to dumping the text into a project-space noticeboard and then linking to that noticeboard from within articles.

I am almost of the opinion that I should revoke your editing privileges outright. You've done nothing but disrupt and scattershot the project with this polemic for 12 months, and outright ignored the three people that have told you, twice in November 2008 and once again in May 2009, that what you are doing is inappropriate. (And those are just the three people who came to your user talk page.) You've made no genuinely useful contributions, on this or any other subject, and it seems that you are a single-purpose account whose purpose for being here runs counter to the purpose of this project. Our purpose here is serving the general public interest, by writing an encylopaedia. Yours appears to be serving self-interest alone, and abusing the facilities provided by the Wikimedia Foundation to do so.

But I'm giving you this one last chance. Are you actually here to write an encyclopaedia at all? If so, I suggest that you stop, immediately, flailing about with this incessant self-publicity and start writing proper content in the proper places, adhering to our rules on neutrality, verifiability, and no original research, as every edit screen that you have ever seen here and as the welcome message at the top of this very page have told you to do.

Note that if your response to this is the same as you responded to Stwalkerster above, just dumping the same text into a page (xyr user talk page) again, I'll take that as being an answer of "No." and act accordingly.
