This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Kizuna bridge, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Kampong Cham District. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally moving or duplicating content, please be sure you have followed the procedure at Wikipedia:Splitting by acknowledging the duplication of material in edit summary to preserve attribution history.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 20:58, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Kizuna bridge description under the Kompong Cham district should be removed as a new page is created for that bridge itself

--Laurentleap (talk) 21:02, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kizuna bridge[edit]

I also feel two pages are unnecessary, hence why I redirected it. There isn't enough information to justify an article, particularly when it is covered sufficiently elsewhere. As a result of the redirect, anyone searching for "kizuna bridge" is directed to the other page, which includes info on the bridge. Ironholds (talk) 20:01, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have anything against it, except that it was unreferenced and already covered. If you can provide reliable sources covering the bridge (and the bridge, not covering the town with a single mention of "kizuna bridge") and write enough to justify an independent article, I'm fine with putting something back in. Until then, it stays as a redirect. Ironholds (talk) 22:35, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of countries by Muslim population[edit]

Bonjour! Your deletion [1] of Islam in Ecuador from the List of countries by Muslim population has me puzzled. After checking the source, the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life's October 2009 report, 'Mapping the Global Muslim Population: A Report on the Size and Distribution of the World's Muslim Population', I re-inserted the text in question. Please let me know if I am mistaken. Merci beaucoup! — Kralizec! (talk) 14:07, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. The article was kept. Fences&Windows 21:06, 6 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Keo Sarath requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 19:05, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You can post the article again, but you need to include references from independent, reliable sources so that we can verify that Sarath meets notability standards. This is now a requirement for biographical articles on Wikipedia. It would help if these were in English, given that the subject is not from an English-speaking area. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 20:27, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

July 2011[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Germany. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. Cognate247 (talk) 15:25, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Pilot Polder Andijk has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no sources, no context, notability in doubt

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —EncMstr (talk) 05:15, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. In Delta Works, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Lock (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Salut Laurent, please note that Leading lights are a special sort of maritime signals, so an interwiki link to the very general fr:Feu maritime as you introduced is not suitable. Don't worry: this page hasn't been deleted and won't be deleted unless you change your mind and want it to be deleted. I've moved it to User:Laurentleap/drift, because the title "User Laurentleap:drift" makes the software think that it's an encyclopedia article. To make a page show up in your userspace, you absolutely must place a colon between "User" and "Laurentleap", because that's the only way that the software will know what you're trying to do. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Marker Wadden[edit]

I really don't understand the speedy deletion of the article Marker Wadden. It's a project which, I understand, will start in 2014. Is it because of the lack of references ? That strange attitude is discouraging. --Io Herodotus (talk) 20:56, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You have to demonstrate notability using reliable sources. Don't be discouraged – this is a basic filter needed to deal with the mass of daily articles. Even an article by an admin like myself would be deleted if it doesn't clearly show the notability of the subject. INeverCry 23:26, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I did not respond to you sooner -- I'm not nearly as active at WP as I once was. I am also not an admin, so I am afraid I cannot be of help. Sorry. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 01:33, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Marker Wadden (2)[edit]

Thank you for your article. I'm trying to translate it into french. Why is it called Wadde ? Best regards.Io Herodotus (overleg) 27 apr 2013 00:02 (CEST)

Bonjour colleague. Thanks for your interest and efforts. I haven't looked for it particularly , but the reason the inventors call it 'Wadden' is undoubtedly that the projected islands look similar to the Waddeneilanden in the north of our country. Whether the name then is a good name is arguable, however, because a wad is land that appears during lowing tide, and in the Markermeer there is no tide.
By the way, are you interested in artificial islands? Apdency (overleg) 27 apr 2013 10:18 (CEST)
thank you. Of course I'm interested in artificial islands, that's a major part of Marker Wadden isn't ?Io Herodotus (overleg) 27 apr 2013 23:44 (CEST)
Yes, you might call it its essence. Apdency (overleg) 28 apr 2013 11:10 (CEST)
Hello I have tried to create the English article. and this is what I've got!!!
"Speedy deletion nomination of Marker Wadden
A tag has been placed on Marker Wadden requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable."
What a pity. If you have good reasons not to delete the English page can you write on the talk page en:Marker Wadden. Some questions. Where does this project originate? A company, a province ? Is it just a project to talk about or is it something serious? Best regards.Io Herodotus (overleg) 28 apr 2013 23:29 (CEST)
Now that I attempt to visit the page, it already has been deleted. I regret that the speedy deletion path was taken. In a regular nomination process, arguments could have been worked out properly. For yes, it is something serious indeed. It was initiated by a a semi-private organisation, but this year, the Dutch government was involved, even formally. According to the planning, by the end of next year the creation of the first of some new islands in the Netherlands will start. In my opinion, that's substantial (enough). Regards, Apdency (overleg) 29 apr 2013 20:39 (CEST)
I don't know why some people on the english wikipedia act that way. They probably need more references. They thought that originates from a company! Is it possible to find more references ? like something coming from the government or from the province (Flevoland ?). (The lotery thing doesn't look serious ...) Then the page could be created again. I'm fascinated by those kinds of projects. Best regards.Io Herodotus (overleg) 29 apr 2013 23:16 (CEST)
The project is still very much in a planning stadium and I don't see much literature in English. But maybe this info might help as a reference. Apdency (overleg) 30 apr 2013 11:26 (CEST)
Thank you I will translate it when I have time. Regards.Io Herodotus (overleg) 6 aug 2013 07:09 (CEST)
Thank you again. I don't speak a word of your language and I have to use the automatic translation which often gives odd things, thank you for your remark. On the DHV page, I'm not sure at all about what I wrote about the Afsluitdijk. By the way, I haven't completed the translation yet. As this page has more references now I may try again to translate it in English...if I have the courage for that. Another thing the island which gave its name is called Marken, why do we talk about Markermeer and not Markenmeer ? Io Herodotus (overleg) 7 aug 2013 12:59 (CEST)
In Dutch, the -er suffix to reflect a relation in geographical names is quite common (sometimes it replaces -en, but it can also be an extension of the original name). German also has it: for example, in Thüringen, there is the Thüringer Wald. Apdency (overleg) 8 aug 2013 19:06 (CEST)

I just noticed this move. Was there a problem with the former name of the article, and had you discussed the move with anyone before you made it? Please note that the word "terminology" in a common one in English, whereas while "toponymy" may be technically more precise, it is a word that no one other than a professional geographer is likely to have heard of. Unless there is some reason not to, I am inclined to return the article to its original location, but I will be glad to consider your reply first. Regards, Newyorkbrad (talk) 20:48, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I thought etymology is too vague and toponymy would be more accurate. That's all.--Io Herodotus (talk) 09:01, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sala delle Asse[edit]

Hi, I've adjusted the lead to what I think it translates as, also added a link for the castle. Leonardo da VinciTalk 11:40, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Axis" doesn't make sense in English, even though it might technically be a direct translation. Anyway, I would trust "Google translate" about as far as I could throw it. In my experience it has made many errors. Even if it were correct in this instance, sometimes an adjustment is required to give meaning in translation as every language has its own rules for semantics. Leonardo da VinciTalk 12:03, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It could be the axis of the castle or something else. Where did you get your translation from? ('tower' or 'wooden boards')--Io Herodotus (talk) 13:10, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

HERE is one. HERE is another. Its called simply a "Tower Room" HERE, which may be the most scholarly of these (as opposed to blog-like). Translating "Sala delle Asse" may not be the same as translating "Asse". Sometimes translating phrases gives a different meaning than single word translations lumped together. Perhaps the aforementioned references could be included in the article to avoid future disputes on this matter. I may be mistaken but I'm sure "Google Translate" can't be used as a reference! Some people give Google Translate the same credibility as Wikipedia.... :-O Leonardo da VinciTalk 14:25, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've substituted "translation" for "In English". If you can source a more reliable translation than "Google Translate" please let me know, otherwise I'll keep looking myself when I'm not too busy. Leonardo da VinciTalk 21:13, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Why did you revert ? You mentionned "Unsourced". Look at Meanings of minor planet names: 3501–4000. Regards.--Io Herodotus (talk) 22:06, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You wikilinked List of minor planets/3001–4000, which only names the asteroid; it does not explain the origin of the name. That's why I reverted. But I clicked the link provided above and discovered that almost the entire article is unsourced. So then I clicked 3768 Monroe, only to discover that it redirects to List of minor planets/3001–4000. We clearly have a problem with WP:CIRCULAR and WP:V. But I restored your edit. I hope you will change the wikilink to the better article that mentions her name. I don't doubt your good faith, but frankly I was appalled at such poor sourcing. Sundayclose (talk) 01:19, 29 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Suez canal[edit]

Hi we talked somewhere about this, but I can't remember where ;-). About File:Suez canal english.jpg: I strongly think the dual-lane does not extend into the Small Bitter Lake. Marker Wadden revisited[edit]

Hello I.H., maybe you gathered it already, but the Marker Wadden project has returned in the news lately. The contractor for the 1st phase has been awarded, it's Royal Boskalis Westminster. Many news media in the Netherlands paid attention to it, and also sources in other languages picked it up. Here is one of them. Next week, more details of the deal will be made public. These developments might encourage you to ask your article back (as deleted in 2013) or make a new start. But I don't know if you're still interested in the subject. Apdency (talk) 11:30, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. How did you know I wrote that ? Actually I was surprised by the way that article was deleted. At the moment there is nothing on the Duch page. Perhaps we just have to wait. Also sometimes they are still talking about the markerwaard. Regards and thank you for the link --Io Herodotus 07:08, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
We talked about it before, and I well remembered it. You also asked me why I didn't add the recent info to the nl.wikipedia page. Well, for some reasons, I haven't done anything at all on that domain for some weeks now, but if I return, I'm planning to edit the MW page. Tuesday new info will be presented, the organizers have announced. Looking forward. Apdency (talk) 09:34, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

ParthenonNorthReconDiag6183.jpg[edit]

Greetings Herodotus:

File:ParthenonNorthReconDiag6183.jpg
Found on wikicommons via google search.

Is this the image you reference?

This is mis-attributed, likely being a cropped camera image that I took of interpretive materials publicly presented at the site or a nearby museum. My PD release is for that image and not the original text. I believe that the credit for the original image should be attributed to the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.

This was quite some time ago and I do not have the supporting detail.

Regarding the color scheme, the bottoms of the columns reflect the standing portions prior to reconstruction. The mixed assembly above illustrates the 1923-1930 re-stacking of fallen pieces. Accurate measurements enabled by modern technology enable the original source of the column drums to be identified. A proper modern reconstruction will involve the disassembly and re-stacking (after insertion of new stone cuttings into the earlier restoration's cement-filled cavities in the drums).

The source image's descriptive text:

The north collonade of the Parthenon was restored for the first time during the years 1923-1930.
Restoration work was focused on the area between the 4th and the 11th columns from the east.

The purpose of the current restoration project, in process since the year 2000, is to correct
the inadequacies of the previous intervention.

for this purpose, the monument;s architectural members are dismantled and conserved. The cement
fillings are replaced with new ones of Pentelic marble and the restored members are reinstalled in
their original positions. Titanium clamps are used for joining the architectural members.

Completion of the work, with all previous misplacements of architectural members corrected, will
give the north side of the monument the appearance it had before the explosion of 1687

On Rubber Soul the song was called Michelle and not Michelle (song), why did you revert the Disambiguation page?--Io Herodotus (talk) 07:54, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Stomion requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Treaty of Lausanne[edit]

Hi, are you sure you want the Treaty of Lausanne page turned in to a dab page? To my mind, the 1923 treaty looks very much like the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC here, in which case it ought to stay at that title (and the others could be treated with hatnotes and/or a Treaty of Lausanne (disambiguation) page). Just pinging you quickly so you don't go to the trouble of changing all the hundreds of incoming links in vain. Fut.Perf. 09:46, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You're probably right. Many pages have already been changed; what shall we do ? --Io Herodotus (talk) 09:53, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No harm done; if we move the 1923 article back to the base title, the new location with the " (1923" suffix will remain as a redirect, so the article links you just changed will all still work. Do you want me to make the move back and take care of the technicalities? Fut.Perf. 10:01, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

wikipedia in Khmer[edit]

The page Khmer Wikipedia has been deleted and redirected to another one. I totally disagree with that. By deleting this page you erase all information that can be useful about the history and evolution of this wiki. We must help Khmer wikipedia; many people there don't speak English. --Io Herodotus (talk) 05:53, 11 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Io Herodotus, it's been fully nine years since that happened. I'm sure enough time has passed to give it another try, if there is, in fact, "information that can be useful about the history and evolution of this wiki". Having said that, the content you reinstated was little more than a dictionary definition and did not represent any improvement over the redirected version. Also note that, no, we don't have to help anyone – see Wikipedia:Advocacy. – Juliancolton | Talk 03:52, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your answer. Some wikis have less articles and have a page. Please tell me the criteria I have to fulfill to have this page about Khmer Wikipedia. --Io Herodotus (talk) 04:04, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki in Khmer[edit]

Khmer wiki has 6000 articles. I have tried to re-create Khmer Wikipedia, that was deleted, because this wiki is too weak or something like that; some wikis have 1000 articles and have an article. What should I do to have this page restored? It had 250 views in the last 90 days. It's probably time to do something about it. --Io Herodotus (talk) 07:08, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It has nothing to do with how many articles the wiki has, it has to do with how much independent third-party coverage that wiki has recieved. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gan Wikipedia (2nd nomination) and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Northern Sámi Wikipedia for better explanations than you got for Khmer wiki at AfD. --Ahecht (TALK

bays/inlets[edit]

What is the difference between a bay and an inlet ? I suggest Category:Inlets by country should be merged and replaced by Category:Bays by country. This probably this needs to be discussed, but I don't know where to ask. --Io Herodotus (talk) 05:05, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Our articles, bay and inlet describe them as mostly different. Rmhermen (talk) 06:58, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
OK And what is the difference between a gulf and an inlet ? A gulf is an inlet. It's often difficult to know where the differnce is. Is Khawr al Udayd a bay or a gulf ?--Io Herodotus (talk) 07:32, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Try our article on gulf maybe? --Izno (talk) 12:02, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Language is not mathematically precise so this causes problems for computers attempting to categorize along a boolean form (bay or not-bay). In these cases one typically maintains multiple categories and follow the cultural naming conventions. For example, Facebook has a few dozen options for gender choice (this list is outdated more have been added), but they generally don't have an "other" option as they can't do much with that in terms of targeted advertising. Likewise with bays and inlets, how its called depends on the end-user preference (the place name convention). -- GreenC 14:56, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How to link (592044) 2014 MB70 to wikidata (as a redirection) ?

Look at (364171) 2006 JZ81 for instance.

--Io Herodotus (talk) 06:59, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

wikidata:Help:Sitelinks#Linking to Wikimedia site pages says: "If you really want to connect a redirect page to an item, you may first temporary deactivate the redirect page (e.g. blanking it), and connect it to the item, then restore the redirect." I don't know whether there are guidelines on when to do this. (592044) 2014 MB70 redirects to a single table row. The only sitelink in 592044 (2014 MB70) (Q30748802) is fr:(592044) 2014 MB70. Wikidata reached a consensus to allow redirects in 2018. Wikidata:Sitelinks to redirects suggests that links to redirects are prevented only by a Wikidata software deficiency which may be fixed later. We raised phab:T54564 in 2013, which has attracted useful comments but no action. (See also phab:T120778.) Certes (talk) 15:33, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of (600181) 2011 OC61[edit]

--Io Herodotus (talk) 09:52, 21 December 2021 (UTC) Hello, Io Herodotus,[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Hughesdarren, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, (600181) 2011 OC61, for deletion, because it is a very short article that doesn't provide readers with enough context to determine who or what the subject is.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Hughesdarren}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Have tried to open the article ? It's only a redirection which I have created in order to have a link to other languages. There are many redirection to List of minor planets: 600001–601000, are you going to delete all of them ? By the way, there is no speedy deletion tag on the top of the article. I think I should created this page with a "temp" on it, this could be the explanation. Regards --Io Herodotus (talk) 09:52, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Resonant trans-Neptunian objects[edit]

I think those categories are misnamed.

  • "category:1:3 resonance‎" should be "category:1:3 resonance‎ with Neptune"
  • "category:1:4 resonance‎‎" should be "category:1:4 resonance with Neptune"
  • "category:1:6 resonance should be "category:1:6 resonance with Neptune"
  • "category:1:9 resonance‎‎" should be "category:1:9 resonance with Neptune"

etc.

There are many resonances in the universe, those categories only apply to resonance with Neptune.

Perhaps, the is a wrong place for this discussion.

Hi Io Herodotus. I will amend above redirect to show you what I mean. OK? Also note the additional information (categories, WD properties) am adding as well. Rfassbind – talk 08:18, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It still redirects to 614689 (or 614683) and not 614688 ! --Io Herodotus (talk) 13:58, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you are referring to the List of minor planets: 614001–615000#688, then this is because of the entry being (currently) located at the end of the page and it's simply not possible to scroll further down. Rfassbind – talk 04:43, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:36, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
