Douglas C. Schmidt ?

Hi there; I deleted this article in April 2007 purely on the basis of its being a total copyright violation. A new article written in your own words would not necessarily either survive or be deleted; it would depend entirely on the merits of the re-created article. Hi Ipsign. My link is no more spammy than that of Artemis Papert's Turtle Art, who is selling prints for money. I placed it on the page as I was contacted by a French Turtle Graphics fan who loves my app, so I thought I should share this with other people interested in Turtle Graphics. Thanks for noting this other link, I will take a look into it. Please note that according to Wikipedia:Spam#Inclusion of one spam link is not a reason to include another (and more generally, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS), existing spam link doesn't warrant including another one. If you disagree with me removing the link, you can always raise the question on talk page of the appropriate article and see if there is any support from other editors for keeping this link. Note: I've took a look at Artemis Papert's Turtle Art link, and think it is significantly more relevant to Turtle graphics than Vectoria. First of all, it is not a "decision", it is an "opinion" (you're an editor, and I'm an editor, neither of us is "better" for the Wikipedia, but in case of disputed external links they stay away until consensus is reached, according to WP:ELBURDEN). As I've said many times on this very page, please feel free to discuss adding your link on talk page, if many editors support including your link, it will be included. Second, I honestly believe that I'm acting in the best interests of Wikipedia. If you have any doubts, please feel free to try to initiate Dispute resolution. Oh please, let's move this discussion where it belongs: to Turtle graphics talk page. State your case there (preferably using 'New Section' button, with title like "Vectoria link" and text like "I've added a link to ..., which I feel should be there because... . It has been removed. Please comment if you think it should be included into the article." or something similar; don't forget to add ~~~~ as your signature), and discussion will show what should be done about it. I'll take that as a yes. Let's review the case: I've created a revolutionary app that enables anyone to create Turtle Graphics without ANY programming skills. This is revolutionary and extremely relevant to anyone who is interested in Turtle Graphics. You removed my link on the mistaken assumption that it was spammy. All I want is an honest reassessment. I simply cannot see, other for reasons of stubborn pride, why you refuse to acknowledge my app's relevance. Reply to "BSA is clearly one of the parties in copyright infringement conflict" It is a member of the International Intellectual Property Alliance and has several Fortune 100 companies as its members . Disputing the accuracy of the statistics is only a personal opinion .

Speaking of system bus

Greetings. Since there was no objection, I am starting to split out system bus to its own article. My idea is we could get rid of the orphan system bus model once other aticles like front-side bus and bus (computing). Also memory-mapped I/O for that matter. I redid the diagram in svg. Started with a minimalist version; let me know if it needs embellishment. Thanks for any help, this is going slow. My perspective is one as historian, being an "old timer" myself. Yoshiro Nakamatsu

I have been trying to make the Yoshiro Nakamatsu article reflect reality. Some of my early efforts you rightly deleted as WP:OR, and having WP:BLP issues. Other Wikipedia editors have wrestled with the problem that essentially everything that he has said is untrue, yet the media have lapped it up without checking. Nakamatsu uses untrue claims to have over 3200 patents and to be one of the five top scientists in history (literally: "Selected by U.S. Science Academic Society as one of five world No.1 great scientists in the history who are Archimedes, Michael Faraday, Marie Curie, Nikola Tesla and Yoshiro NakaMats." [I wonder what happened to Newton, Darwin and Einstein?]) to sell snake-oil sex tonics, intelligence boosters, and the like. This is a difficult problem, as if Wikipedia just duplicates what is in the press, it is actually not Neutral POV in this case - it is Nakamatsu POV. I understand that Wikipedia is supposed to be a tertiary source, but I believe that it should also be accurate. I tried adding INPADOC database searches of his actual number of patents, but you deleted them, saying: "search criteria dangerously border on WP:OR". However, I don't understand how a database search is any different from any other reference - doesn't a HTTP:// reference just do a lookup in the giant database that is the internet? It is a really tough one. While personally I agree that he's at least heavily exaggerating on many occasions, when I put my "Wikipedia editor" hat, I am not allowed to use my subjective feelings about the guy and I need to remember that I am not here to Righting Great Wrongs; the only material I am allowed to use, is something which has been said by a reliable third party :-(. Balance between the various statements is another thing, and there is some room there, though IMHO current version is reasonably close to proper balance of published opinions per WP:WEIGHT.

Now about database search and WP:OR: when you're doing a database search, you're introducing your own subjective methods of doing the search (for example, you're inevitably looking for a limited set of possible spellings of "Nakamatsu"), so while it would be perfectly ok for a scientific article, it becomes a borderline WP:OR on Wikipedia. And while for regular articles and non-controversial statements (like number of patents which Edison has) I personally can agree it is borderline acceptable, but contentious statements in biographies of living persons are subject to much stricter standard per WP:BLP and WP:BLPREMOVE, and therefore I strongly disagree with using database searches to support contentious statements in such biographies. Patent

I have reverted your edit to Patent since the article already contained the template you inserted. Both templates appear relevant to me in the article, one for the "big picture" of intellectual property and the other for the "details" of patent law. Oops, thanks for reverting, I've swapped templates as you've mentioned above (when I come to Patent page as user, details of patents are of much more interest to me than place of patents in rather vague 'IP Law', so I think it is 'Patent law' which should be positioned 'above the fold'). Hello Ipsign. Well done for tidying up the references to the Palmer Report in this article. I was in the middle of doing that when I was interrupted! This is just to let you know that I will make some further changes, not quite sure when I will have time, so that these references are consistent in style with the references to other documents with page numbers. external sorting

The wiki article External_sorting, needs some work, but I'm not sure who would be interested in updating the article or even participate on the talk page. Thanks for the quick feedback. As mentioned in the external sorting talk page, my math was off, I was using 1/10th the stated sizes. I added another section about the quicksort reference. Also in the tuning parameters, multi-threading with a pre-emptive OS would be beneficial even with a single core cpu. Asynchrous I/O calls aren't needed if you use pre-emptive multi-threading (with I/O threads set to higher priority than the merging / sorting threads), as the OS will automatically put a thread to sleep when it's pending on an I/O, but this is more detail than the article probably needs. ACS Law

No I'm not, I don't attempt in anyway at all to join DVL and ACS, that was merely in my comment on the edit. All the edit does is point out quite factually that the only court case relied upon by ACS law to justify their campaign was the one that happened to be brought by DVL and was won on default. Do you have any source which explicitly says that "the only court case relied upon by ACS law to justify their campaign was the one..."? TorrentFreak article certainly doesn't say it (it doesn't mention ACS at all); while your statement may be true, according to fundamental policy WP:V "The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth". As of now, we cannot verify that somebody has said that it was "the only court case relied upon by ACS" without making our own conclusions (which may be correct, but which are prohibited per WP:SYN). June 2020

Hey, I've noticed your rev. to a minor change at Hondajet. You might want to check out some articles such as Airbus A350 XWB or something similar, these planes are in current production but the "Status" reads: "In service". Simply stating In production implies the aircraft has not yet been delivered to any customer. Makes sense? Leaderofthewave. (talk) 17:40, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

And you may check articles of comparable-to-Hondajet business aircrafts such as Phenom 100 / CitationJet / Learjet 60 / 75 etc., as well as at A380. By convention there, “In production” means that it is being produced AND in service, but “In Service” means that it has already completed production, but is still in service. It seems that there are two different conventions out there, and some coordinated effort is needed to bring it to some common ground.
