Prosper

Hello. I'm a mediation cabal volunteer, and I've volunteered to mediate the case you opened, over the article Prosper (web site). I would like to mediate this case, which is located at Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2007-11-28 Prosper (web site). I would appreciate it if you would let me know if you'd be willing to participate with me as a mediator. I hope that I can help you solve the problem, and I know that this is an informal process, so please air your doubts if you have any. Thank you. Regards, Neranei (talk) 03:48, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Response: As long as you are neutral and without a conflict (i.e., you are not friends with Hu12), I am completely willing to participate with you as mediator. Thank you for your time and assistance. Ira01 (talk) 06:34, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Request reason:

As far as I can see from reading the rules, I have certainly not vandalised anything. I have simply been engaged in good faith in a content dispute with Hu12. Following wikipedia policies, I intitiated a mediation cabal case over this dispute, which was proceding before I was blocked. As near as I can tell, Hu12 was unhappy that I solicited comments in the mediation cabal case by posting a message on the talk page of about 12 people who had previously made edits to the article in question that Hu12 reverted. I have not seen anything to suggest that was improper, but if it was, I appologize (and would appreciate a link to the policy in question). Thank you for your consideration

Decline reason:

Your first edits were to the medcom page, followed by mass spamming to draw attention to it. This is clear disruption. — Jeffrey O. Gustafson - Shazaam! - <*> 23:16, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I registered in order to initiate the mediation cabal process, because Hu12 refused to engage in any dialog with me about his edits, so I didn't know what else to do (since I had already posted comments to my talk page, his talk page, and the article discssuon page, all to no avail). That is why it appears that my first edits were to the mediation page. As for the "mass spamming," I posted only on the talk pages of about a dozen people who had made edits to the article in question, in order to alert them to the existence of the mediation.

* Ira01 did not call attention to his blocking. A different user, Greebo, noticed it & called attention to it on the prospers.org forum as shown here: http://prospers.org/forum/index.php?topic=4139.0 Gothere (talk) 23:07, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
  • The reviewing admin should also see relevant discussion here. — Satori Son 22:18, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

  • For the record, I have NOT used any sock puppets, NOR have I used any IP address, in ANY part of this dispute. I have neither registered nor used any name other than Ira01, and I have not used any IP address other than 75.51.184.223 (my IP address), which I used prior to registering Ira01 a few days ago in order to initiate the mediation cabal process. Since being blocked I have made no posts of any kind on wikipedia other than to my talk page (as allowed) and through the email system to send an email to the admin who blocked me. In addition, I have no idea who the other anonymous IP editors on the Prosper article are, nor did I tell anyone to post on wikipedia. Furthermore, I did NOT even tell anyone of the ongoing disupte here. Today, another Prosper lender (Greebo) noticed Hu12's action in the article's history (and Hu12's edit comment), and posted publicly on prospers.org about it. I then responded, to clarify the situation. Additionally, whatever happened to the presumption of good faith? Hu12 certainly seems to jump to a lot of conclusions, with no supporting facts. • Oh Lordy - there is indeed a lot of jumping to conclusions. I am not a sock puppet. Maybe Ira and I look a lot alike, tho'? I do think that cites in support of admins' decisions would be a benefit to the community.... NewHorizon (talk) 00:43, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
  • I am also not a sock puppet. I'm not terribly active, but I have been registered on Wiki for some time and have my own interests. I'd be happy to provide personal verification information in private to an admin to prove conclusively that I am nobody's puppet. As Ira said, I happened to notice the battle going on, because I, as well, am a Prosper lender, and as it happens, Prosper is embroiled in a controversy at the moment which hasn't yet made it to public attention. (Which will make for interesting wiki reading once we can cite references for it...)Chaeberle (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 03:34, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
    • Chaeberle - I appreciate your enthusiasm for Wikipedia, but bear in mind that Wikipedia strives to have a Neutral Point Of View on all articles. This is no place to grind any axes or get public attention. It should be as reliable and as neutral as any encyclopedia.
