My poor editing of Wikipedia: Zorba the Greek: Critical Reviews

Please remove my poor editing (personal opinions on film review, therefore without citations, except referring to the film itself) - which now seems to bring whole site into disrepute. (BIG RED COMMENTS ABOUT LACK OF CITATIONS - BUT HOW CAN I CITE MYSELF? THAT MEANS MY WRITING WAS INAPPROPRIATE TO THAT SITE. MY APOLOGIES.) Tried to get hold of an editor, and also tried discussing it on a Wikipedia-run site ("Wikichat"?), but firstly did not seem to be able to post my article, and secondly there was some sort of automated technical response code using "ref" which is above ny computer-word-processing skills. I may be a brilliant Mathematician but am certainly a COMPLETE COMPUTER DUMMY. Please clear up the mess I seem to have made, unless Wikipedia editors will do so automatically over time, if they are not already busy doing so, which I realise will take time, considering the almost incomprehensively-large size that there must be to Wikipedia. Are you even an editor I am talking to, or is this just a chat-site? Am i getting anywhere, or making the mess worse? Neil Joseph Violett Neil Joseph Violett (talk) 15:23, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

Neil Joseph Violett, don't worry your edit has already been removed. Might I suggest that you look for a source that shares your opinion/critique and then add it back to the article. See Help:Referencing for beginners on how to properly format a reference, or if you find a source, you can ask me here on my talk page for help. And yes, you are corresponding with a live editor. Thank you for reaching out, I appreciate it. Isaidnoway (talk) 15:35, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

Thanks!

Hi there! Just wanted to say thanks for offering your thoughts on the Corey Johnson talk page. I've proposed an alternate paragraph, and would welcome any additional comments you may have, particularly on notability/inclusion of my proposal. I'm new and trying to learn. But if not, thanks for your prior attention to the matter. Cheers! Broom Bones (talk) 20:28, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

@Broom Bones: — just to be clear, I oppose any addition whatsoever of the content under discussion on the Corey Johnson talk page. Like I previously stated, it's WP:UNDUE and WP:NOTNEWS and it is definitely not a notable or significant life event for the subject of a WP:BLP. Isaidnoway (talk) 09:24, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

Shenqijing – you do not have consensus for your revert per the discussion on the talk page. I suggest you self-revert. If you continue to disrupt the article, you may find yourself topic-banned or blocked from editing Brumby. There is a consensus among reliable sources to describe the Brumby as a feral horse. I have taken it to talk, on feral, you need to stop and start being constructive. The page is bias I have supplied evidence to this effect with the name feral, should be changed to Brumby it is a Brumby page not, you must not revert the page and repeated vandetlisum to the eddits and if this persists you could be blocked. Please Don't Revert The Weird Looking References

They are not ideal, but they are precisely to avoid incorrect reference formatting (as the script doesn't detect a subtle error on pages it edits). DemocraticLuntz (talk) 11:05, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

DemocraticLuntz — The pages that were reverted were found in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting. If you had bothered to use Show Preview and checked your edits, you would have seen that for yourself. Using a script is not an excuse to leave pages with incorrect ref formatting. Be more careful next time when using that script. Thanks. Isaidnoway (talk) 00:40, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Hong Kong protests reference list

Hi, as far as I am aware you can't demand that the reference list be alphabetical. I did see your hidden comment and re-ran the script to be alphabetical, if the name wasn't a random string, so I don't see why it was reverted. For these reasons I will be reverting your revert but after will try and organise the random named ones. Thanks, RealFakeKimT 19:10, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

@RealFakeKim: - I didn't demand anything. I reverted on the basis of a long standing consensus. When you have over 700+ list-defined references, it's much easier for editors to find a list-defined reference when it is alphabetized and easily identified and distinguished from each other. This means that ref names like "Guardian 2019" are preferred to random strings which are harder to distinguish from one another. The script that you used, and I use as well, allows you to change the ref names to something more distinguishable than nonsensical random strings. Also see WP:CITEVAR - avoid making major changes when an article is already consistent and has consensus. It also wouldn't hurt if you took a look at WP:ACCESSIBILITY - Wikipedia pages should be easy to navigate and read for people with disabilities. I'd appreciate it if you would respect consensus and WP:CITEVAR and especially WP:ACCESSIBILITY. Thanks. Isaidnoway (talk) 22:55, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

the wiki page is "List of most-subscribed YouTube Music artists" so if blackpink aren't artists then why are they even included…? but to find a consensus i changed it to "female act", it would be ridiculous to limit blackpink just as the most subscribed group when they are the most suscribed female act, which is more relevant and a better achievement

plus I deleted the part that says Marshmello is the most subscribed electronic dance music artist, it's just a genre so it's irrelevant, like we didn't write about eminem being the most subscribed rapper DetoFr (talk) 23:15, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

I restored the lead paragraph that has consensus. Blackpink is a group made up of several female artists. Grande is a single female artist. Nobody is limiting Blackpink. Isaidnoway (talk) 23:23, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

Reference Organizer

Thanks for cleaning up the references at Underwater habitat. It's important to encourage other editors to quote the reference name, so giving them good examples to mimic is a step forward. Just a heads-up, though, both the reference toolbar and visual editor add the final space in named references like <ref name="Ceurstemont 2007" />, so removing it is going to be an unending task. Hello from COI editor

Hello Isaidnoway,

My name is Jeffrey Krasner. I am a former reporter for the Boston Globe, where I covered biotechnology and healthcare, and also wrote about cars and other interesting things. I do some consulting for biotechnology companies, and I am helping David Lucchino, CEO of Frequency Therapeutics, improve his page. I am being paid for this.

I've noticed that you have edited Lucchino's page and other interesting biotech pages (e.g., David Perry of Indigo). I have used the COI template and have reached out to the volunteer community to make some updates to Lucchino's page, but haven't received any feedback. At this point, I'm uncomfortable making any additional changes without input from a volunteer editor.

I'm hoping you might have a moment to look at the changes that I have made, and give me your feedback to ensure they are accurate and meet Wikipedia standards. I'm hoping you might be able to help with future edits.

I am happy to help you with any edits. I have a good knowledge of the Boston biopharma and medtech scene and would be happy to help you with any edits where I don't have a conflict. Thanks in advance.JeffreyKrasner (talk) 21:36, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for your help

I want to personally thank you for fixing the mess I made. I tried to find help but I was unfortunate, so I decided to leave it like that in case someone came and knew how to fix it, and if in a couple of weeks it was still the same, I intended to roll it back to how it was (which was really not the best way, either to edit or consult the table). So that's it, thanks a lot. I learnt from your edit and I'm a better editor now. See you around! --Metalpotato - 21:13, 7 September 2020 (UTC)

How am I supposed to cite members of Members Only when there is little to no articles that are correctly written about them?

I cannot find any proper articles to cite members, and my only thing I can cite is the fact that they are on the albums. I've been trying to add the correct members, but they keep getting deleted because I have no proper sources. What am I to do? They are 100% confirmed members of the group, but they're so underground I cannot find any proper articles to cite.

  • User:Cameronsmiley2345qwerty, please sign your name when you leave a message. Here is the problem: I don't know what "the fact that they are on the albums" means. What fact? Vol. 3 lists members; that is what you can cite, from the booklet/cover/Discogs entry. Billboard lists some participants for Vol. 4; that is what you can cite. You cannot list things that are not in any way verified. Drmies (talk) 21:18, 16 October 2020 (UTC)

Apologies

Hello I. I get these about 95% of the time - sometimes even before hitting save :-) I usually page down and look for the bright red message in the refs but failed to do that here. Apologies for missing that one and thanks for the fix. Is there a place like a category where they get flagged? That would give me a third way to check on whether an article needs that fix. Best regards and I hope you have a pleasant week. MarnetteD|Talk 15:19, 19 October 2020 (UTC)

@MarnetteD:, no need to apologize, it's reFill 2. I just now noticed that you left a comment there on the talk page, so at least you're aware of that bug and check for that deprecated parameter. Like you, I wish someone would patch that bug, it's been months now since that request for a fix on GitHub, and that gadget is widely used for bare URLs. Anyway, per your query, here is the category link where the CS1 error is located - Category:Pages with citations using unsupported parameters. Thanks. Isaidnoway (talk) 17:06, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
reFill2 seems to be in some kind of limbo. It is there - it occasionally goes through some kind of maintenance - but no one can find who is doing the work. Posts at the WP:VPT happen but definitive answers are elusive. Many thanks for the link. MarnetteD|Talk 17:13, 19 October 2020 (UTC)

Redirect article from ex nihilo to creatio ex nihilo

I'm sure that whoever originally created the article ex nihilo (out of nothing, naturally) meant that it should treat creatio ex nihilo as its subject, but the choice of ex nihilo as the article title has meant that the lead and first few paras have to deal with distinguishing between creatio ex nihilo and the ex nihilo nihil fit idea. It would be much easier if the title were simply creatio ex nihilio, which in fact it once was. I've canvassed all authors who have edited this in the last month, (i.e., October 2020) asking for views.Achar Sva (talk) 07:12, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

@Chowbok:, you are correct, consensus can change and this issue should be revisited as it's WP:UNDUE for a BLP. ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:29, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

This is it for now, I am returning to my Wiki Break. I virtually created one article, improved three, two of them substantial, during a time of >~6h, including lectorate more like 12-18h. For that trouble, registered Wikipedia users couldn't even be bothered to create a category that already contains 10 pages or point me to the Creation Wizard.

Now I know again why I left Wikipedia all those years ago. Thanks for reminding me again. --2003:C8:4714:600:49CE:C61F:D371:4268 (talk) 22:07, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

Red link counter?

Hi, forgive the intrusion. You added a clean up tag to List of aircraft engines in December, which I totally agreed with. I'm working very hard to straighten it out. What I would like to know please is how you counted the red links? Is it a tool or a script? I have X tools but am not seeing it there, perhaps I'm not looking hard enough? Cheers. Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 14:01, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

@Nimbus227:, I manually counted the red links until I got to 1000, realized I wasn't even half-way through the article, and estimated over 2000 based on the remainder left, which was probably a low ball estimate. Thanks for working on clearing them out. Isaidnoway (talk) 16:23, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
Lol! I expect there is a tool somewhere. The main contributor of the red links in that list is currently blocked, it has been out of control for several years.Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 16:26, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
You might ask at the WP:HELPDESK or try Help:Menu/Technical information. I don't know of any tool or script or bot. Isaidnoway (talk) 16:33, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
I've asked after searching the archives, I'll let you know the outcome, cheers. Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 17:18, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
It can be done by interrogating the page source code which is working for me with Firefox. My counter maxed out at 1,000 red links in the list article so still a way to go, cheers.Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 17:51, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
Me again, the Firefox default find limit of 1,000 can be edited. When you tagged the article there were 3,930 red links, the current count is 3,170.Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 20:29, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
@Nimbus227:, thanks for the updates. I also use Firefox so I'll try that tip, like I said when I tagged it, that is a ridiculous amount of red-links, that might very well be a record. If you've fixed over 750 already, you are making tremendous progress, thanks for tackling that project. Isaidnoway (talk) 21:53, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

ReFill

Hi there. Thanks for telling me at Pierce Brosnan about the deprecated parameter that ReFill uses. Rest assured I do actually use edit previews; I just wasn't aware that the parameter had been deprecated. Thanks for cleaning up after me at Atlanta too. I've checked through my ReFill-assisted edits and there shouldn't be any more that uses that parameter.

Sdrqaz (talk) 13:37, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

That's definitely a template I could use

I wasn't aware of the Template:In use template or the Template:Under construction template, both of which would be important in future editing, so thanks for adding that. I'll try to add some sources to the Transgender section on that page starting this afternoon. --Historyday01 (talk) 18:14, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

As you are aware, mulitple link automation tools exist including refill.toolforge.org

The creator of this tool User:Zhaofeng Li is semi-retired (has not edited since July 2019) and the last update to the tool was 2 years ago.[1]

While the tool serves an important function of transforming citations to include various citation paramaters, some of the paramaters are output in deprecated formats. Various bots continuously transform deprecated parameters to the current naming conventions. See Special:Contributions/Monkbot (such as via task 18 User:Monkbot/task 18: cosmetic cs1 template cleanup re |accessdate= and |deadURL= with the on page stats noting millions of instances).

To the extent that the markup output by Refill bothers you in some manner,[2] as the tool maker appears to be unavailable, you may wish to post at Talk:Portal:Toolforge and another editor may be able to modify the output markup. Pings to various editors who use Refill probably won't achieve your preferred outcome, while attempting to modify the tool's output of parameters might. Cheers, UW Dawgs (talk) 13:16, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

@UW Dawgs: - You are responsible for all your edits that you make to the encyclopedia, including edits made with tools. reFill 2 clearly says, The templates created automatically by the tool need to be reviewed to ensure that they are accurate, as they are often not. Therefore, when you activate this tool, it is your responsibility to review the templates created automatically by the tool to ensure that they are accurate. It would appear by your reply that you know the tool adds deprecated parameters, so keeping that in mind, please make sure when you activate this tool, you check the results, and don't rely on other editors or bots to clean up after the edits that you make with this tool. Thanks. Isaidnoway (talk) 14:38, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi! First off, I wanted to thank you after noticing that at least more than once you have helped me fix reference formats with parameters not in English. Revision of Varicella reference on the Smallpox page.

Hi Isaidnoway,

I reviewed the page on --List of guidelines for instructions on how to disagree with an edit-- and I only see that your seeking brevity or you think that a local name should be used in a Wikipedia article about a scientific subject.

In reviewing my statement I see that I failed to reference the Varicella page.

Upon further review there is a chicken pox page and a Varicella page which as a redundancy and a Shingles page with the zoster word referencing redirecting to the shingles page. The Varicella virus hides in the derma ganglia and comes out as shingles when immunosenescense set in on older adults and/or immunosuppressed patients. That's why they are combined together as VZV. They are the exact same virus.

I see that you reverted my accessdate=27 from access date=27 back to original. When looking on the current page I see a reference to-- |access-date=27 --seems that is the way they want it.

I still think that clarity would be served by modifying the statement about chicken pox to read as "common name chicken pox virus known as Varicella (VZV)"...

The 2 pages chicken pox and varicella need to be combined.

Also a page needs to be generated about the Taterapox virus the suspected precursory to small pox.

They have not mentioned that the Taterapox is a suspect ancient zoonotic virus to the VARV.

Like most of Wikipedia this area needs work.

I hope you will visit my other pages to add your input.

Thank You for your input. Bgordski (talk) 17:37, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Since you didn't provide any diffs, I had to investigate what you were talking about. That revert of your edit was over a year ago. No, I will not be visiting your other pages. Isaidnoway (talk) 20:21, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

@Ashleyyoursmile:, thanks for the review and your suggestion. I don't have plans to nominate it, but if you or someone else wanted to (if that's permissible), I certainly wouldn't be offended. Thanks. Isaidnoway (talk) 08:37, 6 May 2021 (UTC)
I have nominated the article, you can find the entry here. If you think the hook needs rewording or would like to add alternate hooks, please feel free to do that accordingly. Thank you for creating such articles and keep up the good work. :) Ashleyyoursmile! 10:30, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

DYK for A Question of Love

On 15 May 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article A Question of Love, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that A Question of Love was widely regarded as a bold film for portraying homosexuality, a rare topic for television dramas in 1978? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/A Question of Love. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, A Question of Love), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

My reverted edit

Hi there. I recently linked to the Haiti page from Deforestation of Haiti. You reverted with the comment "unnecessary". I couldn't find a link on that page to the main country page. I checked that a quite a few of the "Deforestation in X" pages have similar links, so I guess my need and instinct was shared. I read through the help page and guidelines on Linking and couldn't find something there that would indicate this was either overlinking or against some explicitly stated reason. Could you expand on your reasoning? Thank you! EGGman64 15:39, 30 August 2021 (UTC)

@Eggman64: - You are referring to this edit that you made in November 2020. You put empty ref tags → <ref></ref> at the top of the page that serve no purpose, don't do that. And please see avoid these common mistakes - Links should not be placed in the boldface reiteration of the title in the opening sentence of a lead. Find somewhere else in the article to put the link. Thanks. Isaidnoway (talk) 16:57, 30 August 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for your work on LGBTQ+ topics

Your user page is chocked full of those and they are very pleasuring to read. ButterSlipper (talk) 02:45, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

A source that might be useful?

Thanks again for your work on all the LGBTQ pages. I came across a guide which might be useful, in pages 261-310 of Stephen Tropiano's "The prime time closet : a history of gays and lesbians on TV", which lists gay, lesbian, bi, and trans characters in TV, which might be good for getting some RS's for some shows (well, the ones done before 2002). All you need is an account at Internet Archive and you can reserve it for 14 days, more than enough time to add in citations. Here's the citation I used for it:

  • Tropiano, Stephen (2002). "Appendix: Gay /Lesbian / Bisexual / Transgender TV Episode Guide". The prime time closet : a history of gays and lesbians on TV. New York: Applause Theatre & Cinema Books. ISBN 9781557835574. Retrieved September 25, 2021.{{cite book}}: CS1 maint: ref duplicates default (link)

Then you can use "{Sfn | Tropiano | 2002 | p = 313}" (add in separate brackets on each side, like "}}" and "{{") as a source

Also, these might have something as well:

There's also this, but you'd have to cite a specific chapter, as every chapter is by a different author (I've put in "x"'S for the author names, and chapter urls and titles, so that can be filled in):

Just thought that might help. Adding stuff in from books at IA has been relatively successful so far, so I plan to keep doing it going forward, along with getting some books out of my library. That's my next plan. Historyday01 (talk) 18:57, 25 September 2021 (UTC)

Thanks, Historyday01, I already knew about these books and have already used them extensively, and read them from front to back. I also have an account at Internet Archive, and I am also familiar with sfn and harvnb templates. See here: book sources, made-for-television films, comedy tv series, 70s tv episodes, 80s tv episodes, 90s tv episodes, and I've also used some of these books in articles I created. I am extremely glad you found them though, and hope they provide you with a wealth of information to use. Thanks my friend. Isaidnoway (talk) 05:57, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
Oh great. Sure! There's a bunch of books I'm planning to get from the library too, using Hoopla, and other services. I suppose that I'm a more familiar with sfn than harvnb templates. Its always great to add more of these types of sources to LGBTQ articles. Historyday01 (talk) 14:49, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

Angel Studios as a source

Angel Studios is distributing and promoting the film. There's no way that's going to stand as a reliable secondary source. My advice is to let that one go. Fred Zepelin (talk) 17:10, 14 July 2023 (UTC)

Fred Zepelin — I didn't put that reference in the article. I'm perfectly fine with it not being used. I was just trying to improve on what was already written there, like you are.— Isaidnoway (talk) 17:20, 14 July 2023 (UTC)

Can I delete the subthread at Sound of Freedom?

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

Hi wondering if it would be okay with you to delete Talk:Sound of Freedom (film)#Suggesting wording update and expansion, and putting paragraphs in chronological order? It mostly consists of two socks arguing back and forth with some contributions from you at the end. I've collapsed it but because it is a subthread of the RfC it would be confusing if I were to archiving it to the actual archives. Likewise the subthread Talk:Sound of Freedom (film)#Promotional Appearances just above that was started by a sock and you are the only editor to reply, I've collapsed it but I'd also prefer to just delete it. I feel deleting these would keep the thread cleaner and is justified per WP:DENY but I don't want to delete your comments if you feel they are still useful even without the sock comments being considered. P.S. Feel free to just delete these two subthreads instead of replying if you prefer. Nil Einne (talk) 22:57, 24 July 2023 (UTC)

@Nil Einne — yes, that is fine with me, and a good idea. If they made any !votes in either RfC, shouldn't those be struck as well? I'm disappointed with myself that I spent so much time arguing with one of those socks, and after their personal attack on me, I basically just walked away from that talk page because of the toxicity they were creating on that page. Thanks for reaching out.— Isaidnoway (talk) 00:56, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

Jack's letter

Please don't read this as me trying to change your mind. I'm not, you've made your !vote and I respect it. But in the letter, the address does not include the "formal" name that's being suggested, it's the Candanian Convalescent Hospital, Woodcote Park, Epson. Note they spelt Epsom wrong! Then they mentioned that "Our camp is just outside London" - so there is a primary source of a soldier in the hospital referring to it as a camp - a term which is so vehemently opposed in the talk page for some reason. Anyway, like I said not intending to change your mind, it is all very interesting to read, if nothing else. Best wishes, Polyamorph (talk) 18:15, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

@Polyamorph: - the point I was making with the letter is that he knows it is a hospital, regardless of how he refers to it later on in the letter. And I also think the article does a great job in making it clear to our readers that it was a Hospital that used to be a temporary military base at Woodcote Park. Isaidnoway (talk) 22:14, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
Ok. Ive decided to wothdraw the RFC now. Thank you for taking the time to respond! I grew up in the Woodcote area :) Best wishes Polyamorph (talk) 22:21, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

P.S. why is everyone now citing WP:PROPERNAME - it deals with capitalisation, not preference for a "formal" name. Are people really not reading this or am I just completely wrong about that? Polyamorph (talk) 18:59, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

"unclear how this is a FA"

Re: [3]: Thanks for fixing this. In case this was a legitimate question: 1) It's not, it's an FL 2) It became an FL by passing an FLC, just like every other one 3) No featured content has ever been demoted due to a single broken ref, and I'm not sure why you think a single minor issue should disqualify one 4) That ref was broken by the bot-assisted edit immediately before yours a couple days prior; IABot apparently doesn't handle fixing duplicate list-defined refs correctly. In the future, please refrain from disparaging the work of others, it's not helpful. --PresN 01:48, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

Sure, broken refs happen all the time. My comment had nothing to do with the broken ref though. I should have been more precise in my edit summary, and I apologize for that. So, to clarify my comment, in my opinion, all articles, especially featured content, should be accessible to readers and editors who use screenreaders. List of Mystery Dungeon video games is subpar when it comes to accessibility. For example, each entry in the tables has a "Notes" section with a bulleted list of information pertaining to that particular game. But there is no punctuation like a period or semicolon at the end of the sentences to indicate a paragraph break, so screenreaders just read all that important information as if it is just a single sentence, and when you listen to it, the run-on with the sentences can be incomprehensible, and hard to figure out what the hell any of it means. You can see here in the examples given, it is formatted correctly for multiple paragraphs within bulleted list items, with periods at the end of the sentences. But, like I have frequently stated in previous discussions elsewhere, accessibility is just not that important to Wikipedia.
Another example of non-accessible content can be seen here in your comment to me. Screen readers sometimes do not interpret abbreviations properly. For instance, you use the abbreviations FL and FLC. My screenreader does not know what FL or FLC stands for. So in the future, please ensure that abbreviations are not the only method used to communicate important information. Words as the primary means of communication should always be given greater precedence over abbreviations. In closing, yes, I wish I had been more precise in my edit summary, but I stand behind it one-hundred-percent, because it is unclear, and puzzling, to me, how featured content (or any content for that matter), can be inaccessible to so many of our readers with disabilities. Isaidnoway (talk) 09:48, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
If you want to 'hear' an example of what I mean by "run-on", you can listen to it yourself, on my user page under Accessibility. It is not the same exact formatting issue like in List of Mystery Dungeon video games with no paragraph breaks, but it is an example of what "run-on" sounds like. Isaidnoway (talk) 10:16, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
Accessibility is something that I care about, actually; I'm the main reason that the Featured list process enforces the use of captions and row and column scopes for all tables, as well as trying to enforce the rest of the accessibility guidelines, so I am surprised to learn that bulleted lists without periods are not easily understandable. I have never seen that in guidelines before, and there's nothing explicitly about that at the accessibility guideline you linked. In fact, the very next section uses a bulleted list without periods as an example, though with two-word items rather than sentence fragments like the Mystery Dungeon list. I just listened to the table at that list using Mac Voiceover, and it says "bullet" at the start of each line as a separator. I take it that your software does not do this for bulleted lists?
If this is an issue, it should be explicitly stated in the accessibility guidelines so that I can enforce it at Featured List Candidates. If you don't mind, I'll start a discussion there about it. --PresN 22:24, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
