You may be surprised to know that there's a tremendous amount more to examining human behavior from an evolutionary perspective than the evolutionary psychology page lets on! Here's some stuff for you to check out...plenty to keep you busy!

Thanks EPM!! I did read the E.A.Smith article about three styles. Found it interesting. Don't think I'm up to chosing though you may be right about HBE if you will add the cultural element. I appreciate your effort to respond to my entry on EP.I am in the process of writing on WORD the article I referred to. The projected title is "Psychoanalytic Theory : A Basic Revision". ( about 6th revised title so far)Plan to put on new page at this point, maybe this week.Changed my revision target from Sociology to Psychoanalytic Theory, with which I am more familiar though not a dedicated devotee.Islandsage 20:50, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your note. I had not had Psychoanalytic theory on my watchlist, so missed your revision. Reading it now. I remember research with monkeys, some given wire "mothers", some given towel "mothers" from my undergraduate psychology days. I'm glad you liked the ToK System. The biggest problem in psychology, in my opinion, is its theoretical fragmentation. It's nice to see the rare occasion when someone like Henriques attempts to deal with this issue.

It's true that Henriques incorporates evolutionary theory into his ToK System. However, it's not the whole picture. At his Life-to-Mind joint point, Henriques envisions psychology as a "cognitive-behavioral neuroscience built on an evolutionary foundation," (p. 162). At his Mind-to-Culture joint point, however, his "Justification Hypothesis," (or JH for short), becomes the foundation for culture, (recalling that justification is one of the 3 fundamental conditions of knowledge in epistemology, after belief and truth). His JH is rooted in evolutionary theory, but there's more to it than that.

If you haven't checked it out yet, I think dual inheritance theory could blend nicely with the ToK.

And yes, I've been interested in EP for some time. I do think that evolutionary theory is something that should be incorporated into psychology. EP, HBE, DIT, and EDP all have some interesting ideas I think. And no, I didn't make the EP page, but I've written quite a few sections.

Following EPMs invite, here is a little update for The Psychology Wiki.

I won't say too much, as I'd like you to judge it for yourself, but you should find that it is different from Wikipedia, because approximately 90% of our contributors so far are psychologists, academics, or students and trainees. We are a lot better organised than we once were, and our community is starting to grow.

The Psychology Wiki is hosted by a company called Wikia, which was founded by Jimmy Wales and Angela Beesley. There are Google Ads on the site, but we dont make money from the project, they're just to pay for the bandwidth, storage and technical support that Wikia give us.
