My (HereToHelp’s) RfA[edit]

Thank you for supporting my RfA. I’m proud to inform you that it passed with 75 support to 1 oppose to 2 neutral. I promise to make some great edits in the future (with edit summaries!) and use these powers to do all that I can to help. After all, that’s what I’m here for! (You didn’t think I could send a thank you note without a bad joke, could I?) --HereToHelp 12:45, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Hello JIP, how are you? Thanks for your support in my RFA. The final vote count was (88/3/1), so I am now an administrator. I am very humbled by your vote and grateful. Please let me know if at any stage you require assistance, or if you have comments on how I am doing as an administrator. Once again thank you and with kind regards Gryffindor 17:06, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Thank you for your vote of confidence in my recent request for bureaucratship. Even though it didn't pass, I greatly appreciate your support and hope I will continue to have your respect. Thank you! Flcelloguy (A note?) 22:59, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello JIP/Archive 13: Thank you for supporting me in my RfA, which passed with a final tally of 77/3/0. I hope I can perform at the standards expected for administrators. If I make any mistakes, or you need anything, please let me know. Prodego talk 01:17, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi JIP. Just a quick note to thank you for voting on my RfA, which recently passed 62/13/6. I want to let you know that I will do my best to address all concerns that were raised during the RfA. I will also do my very best live up to this new responsibility and to serve the community, but please let me know if I make any mistakes or if you have any feedback at all on my actions. Finally, if there is anything that I can assist you with - please don't hesitate to ask. Cheers TigerShark 04:11, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hietalahti, Vaasa[edit]

I do not live in Vaasa, or Finland for that matter, and have never visited the city. If it is a section of Vaasa, and not just a stadium, then the stadium article will have to be renamed. I'll do some research on this to find out the information.Patken4 21:46, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You created Vladimir "Ras" Putin in August 2005[edit]

Was that an attempt of sick humor? Is there anyone besides you to call Vladimir Putin this way? --194.226.235.240 14:33, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If anything, he is "Dva"(two) Putin after Raz-putin ("raz" means one) :)  Grue  06:46, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for letting me know, I don't know any Russian. The redirect was only intended as a joke anyway. JIP | Talk 07:05, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Should I create a redirect at George "Am" Bush in revenge? As for me, I can't see any humor in this joke anyway. --194.226.235.240 08:59, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, I think that would be carrying the joke too far. If you want, I'll just go delete the redirect I created and we'll call this done with. JIP | Talk 09:00, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that would be fine. I'm also going to discuss the redirect at Mousie Dung with the admin that created it, User:SushiGeek: apparently, he also considered it a joke. Does every admin here think that he must create a jokey redirect? This is not uncyclopedia, after all. --194.226.235.185 10:20, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know. I don't like the Russians, either. For instance -- only for instance -- they reverted my Milosevic article!

Meanwhile, I can guarantee that there's nothing about Finns on Djixtra's talk.  :)

--VKokielov 03:14, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have anything particularly against the Slavic languages, I just don't understand them. And I don't particularly hate the Russians either, even though I'm not specifically fond of them. JIP | Talk 06:26, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page comments[edit]

Please do not vandalize my talk page again. Your comments were inappropriate, and intended only to harass me for holding standards and opinions that differ from yours. Monicasdude 14:07, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It might have looked that way, but it was not my intention to harass you. I know my opinions differ from yours and I respect that. But I am genuinely curious if there has ever been an article you have voted to delete. JIP | Talk 14:16, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think your comments on the RfAr page concerning me go beyond simply being inappropriate. You acknowledge that your message was poorly formed and came across as an insult, but appear to fault me for taking it at face value. And because I took your comment at face value, you endorse a ludicrous Request for Arbitration. That hardly reflects good faith or civil behavior. Monicasdude 20:43, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am letting the ArbCom decide. I will not risk saying anything to you any more for fear of you taking it the worst possible way again. JIP | Talk 04:42, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

After extensive edit warring, article protection, and the statement of the extended version supporting side regarding both the name of the article, and the intro paragraph, a poll has been placed. The brief version supporting side is to keep the name of the article AND the intro paragraph free of the UN name (FYROM). Keep in mind that you can select more than one of the options (8! to the moment) that may suit you. Please participate in the vote and ask other editors you know to do so too.  NikoSilver  (T) @ (C) 15:39, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Monicasduden tapaus[edit]

Kiitos kun avasit selvityspyynnön Monicasdudesta. Koska olen joutunut jonkinlaiseen väittelyyn hänen kanssaan, tekeekö tämä minusta osallisen tässä pyynnössä? JIP | Talk 17:52, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For the first part, ei kestä. For the second, I'm afraid I gave up studying Finnish due to having too many other commitments, so you're going to have to restate in English. Stifle 17:58, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It means: Because I have ended up in a sort of argument with him, does this make me an interested party in the request? JIP | Talk 17:59, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In this case, I would say you are an involved party, yes. Feel free to ask one of the Arbitrators for a second opinion. Stifle 18:31, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kolmen[edit]

Thanks. I created the redir when cleaning up Treriksröset when it was first created. At the time, the Finnish name was just listed as Kolmen, and I didn't realize that was a short form. --DMG413 17:19, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rikki Lee AfD[edit]

Uh, well, while not really objecting to the action itself, I think the rationale should be somewhat better. Shouldn't you count out the votes, determine who is and isn't a sock, etc.? And personally I think it could've used a little more time. I only just today learned about it. Everyking 13:04, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regulations ?[edit]

Hi JIP. I hope they do answer your question, because I'm curious too, but I think they're referring to military regulations. We've had about ten of those U.S. Navy ship articles come-in in the last two months from a handful of ISP addresses in Michigan, plus 147.240.236.9, a army base in Michigan. I'm confident that they're all the same person, though why the army would not allow a WP account is beyond me. ×Meegs 18:19, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My RFA[edit]

Thanks for your vote.

Hi, this is Matt Yeager. I wanted to thank you for your vote on my request for adminship. The count was something like was 14/20/5 when I decided to withdraw the request. My decision was based on the fact that there are enough things wasting people's time on the Internet that doomed RFA's shouldn't be kept up for voters to have to think about. Regardless of the rationale behind your vote, I hope you will read this note for an extended note and discussion on what will happen before I make another try at adminship (I didn't want to clog up your userpage with drivel that you might not be interested in reading). Thank you very, very much for your vote and your time and consideration of my credentials--regardless of whether you voted support, nuetral, or oppose. Happy editing! Matt Yeager (Talk?) 01:59, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Can I ask how you decided this AFD?

I realise that AFD is not a vote, but I would count it like this.

One valid keep:

  • Strong Keep and cleanup . See his list of publications. It is very difficult to write pure mathematics papers, because you cannot do experiments/surveys, etc. You have to prove your new theorems etc, so 9 publications is notable. Blnguyen 00:15, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Six deletes:

  • Delete. This article contains little of his contribution to maths. However, it does tell us his nickname is fluffy and his favourite sports. As yet, it does not establish that he is notable enough for an article. Following representations of BLNguyen, I am changing my vote to keep. I have cleaned up this article mainly by removing extraneous fluff. I will hope that someone more knowledgeble than I about maths to flesh out the article.Capitalistroadster 05:17, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
  • Delete This appears to refer to Geoffrey K Martin, Associate Professor and Chair at the University of Toledo math faculty [1]. I don't think he passes the 'professor test' for notability, and some of the details look dubious. I can find no verification of "The Geoff strategy in Tetris", and the same editor has posted some unlikely stuff to Tetris: "In 1985 The Geoff was born, leading to widespread panic, and minor rioting" [2]. Tearlach 08:38, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
  • Delete; while I am reluctant to delete anyone with the nickname "Fluffy", he is otherwise non-notable. --Roisterer 09:33, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
  • Delete per nom. Ardenn 22:59, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
  • Delete: I have fixed up the information in this site and got rid of the outright wrong details. Not really much left is there? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 130.102.128.60 (talk • contribs) .
  • Delete. I've not seen a convincing reason for notability and there is nothing in the article to indicate his mathematical accomplishments. --Chan-Ho (Talk) 14:17, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

And three that I would ignore.

  • Delete: The editor of this article is clearly a shady character. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 130.102.128.60 (talk • contribs) .
  • Keep. Seems to be a published academic. That's notable enough. Mikker ... 05:10, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
  • Keep: I agree with Blnguyen, he seems to be an acomplished mathematician. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 210.49.54.100 (talk • contribs) .

Two unsigned anons and one wrong statement - all academics publish.

Even counting those, it seems a clear consensus for delete? (Although to be frank, the current article could probably be speedied for lack of content.)

Would you mind if I took this to deletion review?

Regards, Ben Aveling 16:07, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Based on the above, I think I may have read the two keep votes you mentioned as "I would ignore" as more important than I should have. I may have made the wrong conclusion. By all means, place the article on deletion review, or relist it on articles for deletion. JIP | Talk 16:11, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Palautin seuraavan läjän artikkeleita entiselleen: 1997-98 NHL season, 1996-97 NHL season, 1992-93 NHL season ,1998-99 NHL season, Wayne Gretzky's records, NHL players S, List of Colorado Avalanche players, List of Phoenix Coyotes players ja List of Philadelphia Flyers players.

Elrith 02:49, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you create a "I can't speak Klingon but want to!" Babel box? Thanks ;) þħɥʂıɕıʄʈʝɘɖı 07:04, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

According to the Klingon Dictionary, the text for "This user doesn't speak Klingon but wants to speak it" would be something like:
tlhIngan Hol jatlhbe' lo'wI'vam 'ach 'oH jatlhqang ghaH.
Hope that helps. JIP | Talk 07:48, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
