Hi, I am curious as to the reasoning behind the deletion of this page last week. There had been an ongoing discussion on the talk page by several regular contributors to Food and Drug Administration as to what to do with the content. If I recell correctly, we had not reached consensus, but there were some contributors arguing for keeping the page, merging it back to the main page, or deleting all but selected content. It is unclear to me why the page was summarily deleted, along with this entire discussion. I'd appreciate hearing what happened. Thanks. -RustavoTalk/Contribs 05:32, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I guess I just deleted it together with all the other articles whose PROD period had expired. I did not notice the discussion on the Food and Drug Administration talk page. I have undeleted it so you can continue the discussion. JIP | Talk 05:45, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The talk page doesn't seem to have been restored. Also, unfortunately, the banned sock-puppeteer who created the page seems to have now returned. *Sigh*, perhaps I should have left good enough alone. -RustavoTalk/Contribs 01:56, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Now it is restored. You should be able to see the discussion in the page history. I just forgot to restore it too, sorry about that. JIP | Talk 04:13, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Numbuh?[edit]

Sorry for replying to you here, but I really didn't think it was appropriate for discussion on that talk page, what with the guideline about the purpose of those talk pages and all. Well, I think it had something to do with Numbuh (sorry!) One being British, and hence inserting it into the KND, either that or because the show centers around children, fighting adults, and as such, follows the following assessment: KND:"We are against all that adults stand for, they make us go to school (spelling obviously associated with it), we're not going to obey them." hence the spelling of number as "numbuh", or super as "soopah", and all that. I really hope I was actually clear enough. —May the Edit be with you, always. (T-borg) (drop me a line) 19:28, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, JIP. An automated process has found and removed a fair use image used in your userspace. The image (Image:1915 Dance by Rodchenko.jpg) was found at the following location: User talk:JIP/Archive 14. This image was removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image was replaced with Image:Example.jpg, so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image to replace it with. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 23:03, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Finland (disambiguation), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Finland (disambiguation) fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

No need for a DP with only two entries

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Finland (disambiguation), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 18:14, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I deleted it myself. The article Finland is now fine as it is. JIP | Talk 19:46, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! May I ask you for the reason to add the name of the person after the category, like you have done here: Category:Finland international footballers|Öhman, Jarl? But you did not add the name to all categories. I thought it is enough to write DEFAULTSORT:Ohman, Jarl on top?

Also I would like to ask you if there is a different between Jarl and Jari, because there were same discrepancies. Is Jarl only a nickname? Thanks in advance and :) Doma-w 14:18, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For the first question, I think Finnish names should be alphabetised under Finnish rules in categories that only include Finns. For the second question, no, that was a mistake on my part. I misread the first name as Jari. Jari and Jarl have nothing to do with each other. JIP | Talk 14:45, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot, very interesting! I want to learn more :) To alphabetize under Finnish rules, the Ä and Ö is at the end? That means after the Z? Is this right?
However this is English wikipedia. And in English Ä or Ö does not exist, so for English speakers it is much easier to find this player under O? Don't you think so? By the way my mother tongue is also not English. Thanks :) Doma-w 16:55, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, in Finnish Ä and Ö are separate letters, and come after Z. You are right about it being easier for English speakers to find the names under A and O, and that's why I alphabetise them there in categories that also include other nationalities. JIP | Talk 17:05, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Very interesting! Thank you! I will try to remember to do the same, if I have Finnish people starting with Ä or Ö. Or I had to ask you again. ;) Doma-w 17:13, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To Delete an Article?[edit]

I nominated an article ‎J.D. Michaels for deletion, and the time is up on it. I am not sure how to actually delete the article and I saw that you have deleted things I have nominated recently. Would you be able to delete it for me, or show me how to do it? Thanks for your help. BTW, the article was apparently created by the subject himself. Just an FYI. Hellswasteland 17:42, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Only admins can delete articles. Fortunately I am one. I verified that the time was indeed up, and went ahead and deleted the article. Thanks for notifying me! JIP | Talk 17:51, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Very good. Just making sure I did everything the right way! Take care, and I'll let you know of any other tomfoolery I find! Hellswasteland 17:54, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Here is another for you... Marky Mark (wrestler). Ready to be deleted. Hellswasteland 13:07, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, the proposed for deletion rules say that once a prod tag is removed, it may not be reinstated. It has to go through Articles for Deletion first. JIP | Talk 15:11, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I see someone already nominated it, and they dropped a message on my Talk page. Hope you had a good holiday weekend. Hellswasteland 16:07, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Avoid[edit]

Päivää, JIP,

Well, I just got out of school for the summer, so I can't really ask the administrator who installed the blocker. I believe that the word "avoid" was starred out because there were some problems with the blocker; other words (such as "game", "radio", "cook", and "Russia") were also starred out. Anyway, thanks for your concern! Näkemiin, --MosheA 20:18, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion review of Lolcode[edit]

AfD[edit]

Hi, I'm contacting you because you previously voted on the AfD for The Intelligence Summit. I am contacting everyone who voted on that AfD regardless of how they voted. Someone re-created the article and it is again up for deletion -- if you have any input, please add it to [this page]. Thank you! csloat 21:10, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of TKPH article[edit]

Hi, you deleted an article about TKPH which is a term used in the mining industry for measuring tire wear on trucks and loaders. Could you please reconsider? Here are some references to the term:

Would you consider a deletion review for Cablinasian?[edit]

It seems painfully obvious to me that this article should just be a redirect to Tiger Woods. I agree that the AfD didn't seem to have a consensus, but it only had like four people comment on it... I have a feeling if it got more visibility, the consensus would be a clear delete.

When Tiger Woods coined this word, it seems quite clear to me that he was making a point about how his ethnicity was unclassifiable, not attempting to formulate a new classification for a notable ethnicity. It is a notable quote from Tiger Woods, though, and thus it seems logical to me that it would redirect to the article about him. --Jaysweet 21:28, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So, what think you? The previous result was "no consensus," and out of five votes there were two very solid delete votes (not to mention the nominator). Of the keep votes, one was very weak and endorsed the redirect idea. I really think this is a clear-cut redirect, and I'd like to see it reopened.
If you don't think so, that's fine, I just wanted to know whether you've considered it. Do I need to ask someone other than you? My impression of the deletion policy is that to reopen an AfD, you ask the admin who closed it. Is that correct? --Jaysweet 21:13, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Railway stations[edit]

When you create an article about some railway station in Finland, would you please check whether there is a Swedish-speaking or a Finnish-speaking majority in the municipality? Let's use the right names. --Groshna 11:02, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Helsinki Pride Kaivopuisto.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Helsinki Pride Kaivopuisto.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Nonsense of The Dools[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on The Dools, by Drutt (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because The Dools provides no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting The Dools, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it did not nominate The Dools itself. List of video games with classical music[edit]

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article List of video games with classical music, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. hbdragon88 16:51, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Klaus Scherwinski, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -FisherQueen (Talk) 14:29, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Finnish railway stations[edit]

I've had some time to translate some more articles on Finnish railway stations, but I haven't included any of the railway line "maps". I don't know if you'd be interested in adding those to the articles. The main reason, however, that I'm writing this is to ask if you know what välisuojastuspaikka is in English.

If you'd like to take a look at the following articles, these stations now have articles in English:

tv: -Yupik 00:16, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've added succession boxes to the first two. The last one is a cargo station, which is outside the scope of my project to cover all passenger stations in Finland. So I am not sure how to put a succession box there. Sorry, I do not know what "välisuojastuspaikka" is in English, this is the first time I've heard it in Finnish too. JIP | Talk 08:06, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! -Yupik 10:07, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An article you created about "Juniper Bay" has been proposed for deletion, as a hoax. No one in Chicago can find that such a neighborhood exists. Nor does a listing of Chicago streets show a "Hughes Street" or a "Cedarwood Street." Do you have any evidence to support the existence? If so please add it to the article. What led you to create the article? Your user contributions show you were very busily closing AFDs and such [9] , then suddenly you created a stub about a neighborhood which is hard to substantiate. I found this because I saw on the Reference Desk where someone had asked about it. [10] . Regards. Edison 16:34, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Amadeus IT Group, by Rayward (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Prime prime numbers[edit]

Thanks for the inductive reasoning determining that all numbers are "prime prime", however I still believe the article was correctly deleted. Useight 17:03, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome! I'd spotted the need for a new category some time ago - it wasn't right to categorise Tribbles in Races, but I needed to find a few more animals to justify a new category! Other suggestions: link to it from all the episodes that mention the animal, e.g. Destiny. Should the article be moved to "Cardassian vole"? - Fayenatic london (talk) 22:03, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NextGen[edit]

Hello, I was just curious as to why my article NextGen was deleted. This article was a start to the Next Generation Air Traffic control system being implemented within the United States currently. It is a multi-billion dollar project underway transitioning the current ground based radar system into a high tech satellite controlled system. It was not spam, unless it was hijacked without my knowledge, and should have offered no conflict of interest.

Hope to understand your reasoning.
