If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on UMass Dining requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. --v/r Electric Catfish (talk) 19:27, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Class work - where's it gone?[edit]

If your work is put into article space, it is subject to the normal rules of Wikipedia. These are that notability has to be shown (WP:GNG for general notability) and backed up with reliable independent sources WP:RS. Without both those requirements fulfilled, you are on a hiding to nothing. I am moving your article into your user space ('userfying' in WP terminology), and you will find it at: User:JMatthews12/UMass Dining. There, it should be safe from the patrollers and bots (unless you cross the bounds of attack, spam or copyright violation). All new articles are best started in user space rather than article space - it gives more time for getting things right. I would be obliged if you could pass this on to your colleagues to save everyone time and effort. When you think your article is ready (or before if not really sure), ask for advice. Most admins (who usually have a little mop and Wiki globe at the top of their user page, and are categorised as administrators at the bottom) or regular editors (use your judgement based on their talk page) are willing to give advice. Good luck. Peridon (talk) 20:05, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Umass Dining has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence that this project is at all notable and appropriate for Wikipedia.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Umass Dining, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

it was deleted before under a different capitalization name and moved to the user's userspace.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. gwickwire | Leave a message 00:23, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
