Hi Jacklyn Carfagno. Draft talk:Everett McCorvey is intended to be a place for discuss ways to improve or other concerns about Draft:Everett McCorvey. There's no need to copy and paste the entire content of the draft onto its talk page. If you want to improve the draft (e.g. add citations, copyedit), then you just do so on the draft page itself. Since you appear to be new to Wikipedia editing, you might want to look as pages like Help:Your first article and Help:Referencing for beginners for some suggestions on how Wikipedia articles are typically expected to be written and formatted. You might also want to take the Wikipedia:Adventure to learn how to make certain types of edits and how Wikipedia's various policies and guidelines are applied. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:36, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello...I saw that you made some changes to the page I'm trying to create on Everett McCorvey. It is, as I'm sure you can tell, my first effort at a Wiki page although I've done some editing and gone through some of the tutorials. I didn't understand what you meant about copying the work and am not sure now that I am looking at the version that you created rather than my last version. Any help appreciate! Jacalyn Carfagno (talk) 17:58, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi Jacalyn Carfagno. For reference, it would've been OK for you to respond to the post I left above posting your comment/question right below mine. It's OK for you to have posted on my user talk page, but keeping everything in one place can help avoid splitting discussions and thus make things easier to follow, particular for others who might want to comment as well. So, I'm moving your post here.
In response to your question, all I did was to remove the content you had added to the draft's talk page. If you check the draft talk page's history (see Help:Page history for more details on this), you'll find that the same thing had been previously done by some other editors as well. Each Wikipedia page has a corresponding talk page; for example, my userpage User:Marchjuly has User talk:Marchjuly. Talk pages are intended to be places to discuss any concerns, etc. that an editor may have the page the talk page is connected to; so, if someone had any questions for me or any questions about my user page, they would be OK to post their questions on my user talk page. Similarly, if someone has any questions or concerns, etc. about Draft:Everett McCorvey, they could post them at Draft talk:Everett McCorvey. What you seemed to be doing is copying and pasting the entire draft (or at least a big chunk of it) onto its talk page for some reason, but this is not really the role the talk page is intended to serve.
Perhaps you were working on improvements to the draft and what you were posting was a kind of "second" draft that you were going to incorporate into the "first" draft later on, but you really don't need to do such a thing. You can simply keep directly editing the "first" draft by going to the top of Draft:Everett McCorvey and clicking on the "Edit" tab. The add or change the content you want to add or change and then click "Show preview" or "Publish changes" when you're ready to check or save your work. If you only want to edit a particular section or the draft, just click on the "Edit" button for that section and do the same thing.
Now, if you want to refer back to a particular version of a draft or any Wikipedia page, go to the top of the page an click on the "View history" tab; this view open a window showing you a record of every edit that has been made to the page. All you then need to do is to find the edit or version of the page you're looking for (see Help:Page history for more details on this) and then click on its link. Doing this will show you the version of the page that was visible at that particular time. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:03, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jacalyn Carfagno. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Jacalyn Carfagno. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Jacalyn Carfagno|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Theroadislong (talk) 20:23, 17 September 2020 (UTC) Jacalyn Carfagno (talk) 22:50, 8 October 2020 (UTC)I thought I had responded to this question. I am not being paid for my edits. I have not touched the entry, per your instructions, since you made that request. That said, I would like to have enough clarity to either fix what is wrong with the entry or simply give up. Can you please tell me your concerns? Thanks so much! Jacalyn Carfagno (talk) 23:11, 8 October 20 Thank you! I will work on it this weekend and send you a message.Jacalyn Carfagno (talk) 12:03, 9 October 2020 (UTC) Hi...as you can see, I've worked on it. I think I removed all the external links from the body. There is a Wiki page on Bay View, Michigan that has a section on the festival but I couldn't get that to imbed properly. Also, I'm not seeing the photo of McCorvey showing even though the information is there and am confused about how to make that happen. Thanks for your help and patience. Please let me know what else I should do.Jacalyn Carfagno (talk) 16:12, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Everett McCorvey. Thanks! Theroadislong (talk) 20:26, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Jacalyn Carfagno (talk) 13:14, 18 September 2020 (UTC)I am confused by your remarks. This is not a paid edit. I live in Lexington Kentucky, am a fan of opera and a retired journalist. I have met Dr. McCorvey, as has almost everyone involved in the arts in this region, and tt has surprised me that he does not have a Wikipedia page and I am trying to remedy that. His resumes are widely available online, in commendations from the University of Kentucky, the SEC and multiple arts groups and I have used those as well as extensive coverage of him in local and national media. Jacalyn Carfagno (talk) 12:49, 5 October 2020 (UTC) Hello....I am still waiting on another review of the Everett McCorvey article. I have not further edited, per your instructions after the last comment but did respond to tell you it is not a paid edit. Should I abandon this project or can you give me some advice on how to proceed? Thank you so much. Jacalyn Carfagno[reply]

If you are not being paid to edit then you are free to improve the draft. Please remove all of the external links from the body of the article, we don't use them. It should be acceptable then. Theroadislong (talk) 06:17, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
