Philip Potter[edit]

It is *extremely* important that whenever you report a death on Wikipedia, you give a published source, such as a newspaper obituary. Please do not re-add the information until you have a high-quality source to cite. Please see our policy WP:V. Adding death information is not an emergency: as soon as an obituary appears, we can add the information. Thank you. -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:57, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to hear about your loss, but we need to wait for a published report. As soon as there is a published report in a reliable source, we will add the info. I met Philip several times in Buxton, England, and of course I have heard many of his recordings and seen him on film. He was a lovely man, as well as a wonderful performer! -- Ssilvers (talk) 00:49, 9 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for adding the information of your grandfather's death, and sorry for your loss. This is a tough place, and if something is true isn't quite as important as if something has a relieble source. I was twice in the situation that I knew about the death of the subject of a Wikipedia article privately. Once I passed it (because the son of the deceased requested it), once I waited for a reliable source, and finally someone else added it before me. Take care, - in a way Wikipedia is nothing when it comes to life and death. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:45, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
