I think its kind of silly, actually, to have this. I'm waiting for someone to comment on the image I requested, but no one is there. I think users should just be allowed to change it the way they want, not "ask permission", so to speak. Thunderbrand 13:22, September 6, 2005 (UTC)

I dunno about deleting it. Maybe you could ask at the project talk page to get more people involved? Thunderbrand 05:27, September 7, 2005 (UTC)

I apologize[edit]

I apologize for reverting the page after you did. I'm sorry for acting childish, and I hope there aren't any bad feeling you have for me there will be no "edit war" or "revert war" or whatever its called. I'm just plain sorry. I'm just very passionate about video games, my opinion, and censorship. So sorry again. The Fascist Chicken 22:37, 16 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Trust me I won't do it anymore. I also posted my opinion about The Wall being the greatest album ever, on the talk page. But I've removed it so I won't get in any more trouble. The Fascist Chicken 23:02, 16 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

International School[edit]

Wow, I JUST have started writing my User page today. You're very fast to notice. I never actually graduated from Ecolint, but would have in 1997. Awesome!, I found a school buddy :) Brian1979 18:09, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tricky! ;) I was at the school from '88 to '91. I miss Geneva, actually. And Europe, in general. Even though I've visited, it's not the same as living there. Brian1979 18:29, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I was wondering how that box happened... heheh ;) Hey, do you mind if I put in my WikiFrieds List (which is kind of more in my head right now since I haven't done it). Next time you visit, go walk around Lake Geneva and think of me --- I miss it!Brian1979 18:41, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I just thought of this... Did you do the 13th year at the International School? If you did, and I had as well, we would have graduated the same year.Brian1979 22:38, 18 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! --Allen3 talk 18:33, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mario speedruns[edit]

Hey, while I'm thinking about it, User:A Link to the Past and I have been trying to work the SMB article up to FA status. Are the SMB speedruns particularly noteworthy in some way? It's not a game where finishing quickly is a common goal (unlike Metroid or Sonic). I was thinking of cutting the speedrun header down to the external link. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 20:16, 24 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure. Time is an important aspect in the game, but mainly because having lots of time translates into more points. Personally, I'd leave it as it is. To get the article to FA status, I'd think about trying to remove some of the blank spaces that are in the article due to the images. Unless you're planning to add more text, it's probably a good idea to place these images in a gallery at the bottom. Jacoplane 20:23, 24 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'll take that into consideration.
As for the rest, there's still a lot that needs to be done to that article, indeed. It's not even really ready for WP:PR yet. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 20:30, 24 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Jimbo Wales[edit]

Hi MMZ, understand that Jimmy's very busy and doesn't have much time to respond to everything people ask him. If you have a more concrete issue he could help you with I'm sure he'd help you out. In any case, if you want to get some feedback on articles you've worked on, the best thing to do is to submit them for Wikipedia:Peer review or Wikipedia:WikiProject Computer and video games/Peer review. Good luck! Jacoplane 15:29, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for the helpful advice. I shall do just that. =) Though, I wish Jimbo had responded- I would have have liked to hear discussion from the maker of wikipedia itself. Also, I was wondering how come he answers some posts about community issues and not others- he answered about the new arbiration committie but not the people who simply asked for his humble opinion on semi-protect. That seems somewhat selective, but.... I do not know.-MegamanZero 17:47 November 29, 2005 (UTC)

Hello Jacoplane. Ken Kutaragi content is disputed. In particular, lot of POV non-reliable sources about SCEI/SONY losses are being inserting by User:GoldDragon with the link of redhirring, but observes that link was recused as a reliable source in Xbox article. I think He need prove the losses and someone rewrite the article with reliable sources and not try to difame Kutaragi as happen in the article. --Brazil4Linux 15:04, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jacoplane. With regards to this issue, it isn't about edit wars, it is now about Brazil4Linux's vandalism. B4L openly admitted to being anti-Microsoft and anti-American on the Ken Kutaragi Talk page. Also problematic is how B4L frequently uses the POV non-reliable accusations for anything he finds negative about the PlayStation, with a complete disregard for such info even if it is properly sourced. Brazil4Linux has been reverting to his preferred version without any Talk, even using anonymous IPs to do so. Since there is no Talk from B4L, I cannot support mediation.

MMO list[edit]

I saw your notes on the last of MMORPGs talk page about turning things into a table. I would be happy to hand over the work that I've already done. It's in OpenOffice format and not trivially converted for Wikipedia, but it shouldn't be too hard. If you would like we can talk about it, just leave a note on my talk page with some way to get in touch - email and/or IM. Cheers --Duozmo 21:06, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image placement vote[edit]

Hello, it's MegamanZero, and I've gotten into a conflict with the Orgy over his needless image placement and excessive quotes on the Iori Yagami page. So, I've decided to hold a vote (like on the Ryu charaacter page) concerning which version should be used. The vote can be found here. Please vote your opinion on the matter and thanks for your time! -MegamanZero 18:04, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I don't seen any reason that Infobox templates deserve a category. The only quality they share is a vauge description of being right-aligned data tables. One can find most quite easily on Special:Allpages (see this link). It's simply not worth it to categorize them. -- Netoholic @ 01:57, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted Votes[edit]

Oh I'm sorry, I don't enjoy having the same person come on with two seperate names from two seperate computers just to put in the same exact answer. Check your sources better, it's snide from Cnet. I know because those are names he uses at Tv.com. Think I'm lying, call my bluff and go look. I thought you guys knew how to check that stuff. Plus, I don't see how TVrage is defined as Spam. We make no money, we don't sell, we don't advertise products. We're a freakin' media library. Minus the video and audio.

Well, I don't need to call your bluff, since you deleted my vote, and I'm certainly not snide from cnet. If he is a sock puppet as you say, you should still not delete votes, but label them as sock puppets. What you have to remember that whether or not your site is not for profit has nothing at all to do with this VfD. The question is whether it meets the requirements on WP:WEB. If there are lots of sock puppets voting, rest assured that their votes will be discounted. Jacoplane 02:16, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

--No offense, but TV.com doesn't belong here either if you're going to go by numbers. TV.com's numbers are based around popularity of a shut down site, and by force of members having to use it through CNET's services. If the site had started cold, with no links from TVTome, no membership tie-ins from places like GameStop and MP3.com, and effectivly becoming the ONLY TV related site ont he net for two months, thet'd be in the dumps too. If all you're going to do is base whether or not websites can stay or not on numbers, you might want to start taking down more than just TVrage.

$100 laptop info[edit]

I noticed a blog entry by Jim Gettys: http://www.gettysfamily.org/wordpress/?p=11 It has some previously unknown information. It looks like they are gonig to use the Geode not the Alchemy. Note that Wikipedia has a bio on Jim Gettys that points to his blog. Gettiys bio is a bit out of date. Compac shut down cambrege reaserch labs and Gettys is woring for OLPC.

Also, according to: http://www.eetimes.com/news/latest/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=175001700 (end of third paragraph) "A commercial version of the machine will be explored in parallel." by Quantra This might help the discussion about commercial versions.

I am getting rady to leave town for a while, otherwise, I would have at least updated Gettys bio.

Quackshot[edit]

Jacoplane, I'm at my wits end here.

Here's the thing. QuackShot is Brazil4Linux. He had been engaged in a massive revert war on the Ken Kutaragi article (he was the only one defending his side against five other people). He began to rely on several non-logged in IPs (all were traced back to his address in Brazil), and when those were discovered by other users, he created his QuackShot account. If you notice, he immediately went right to the Kuteragi article and speaks in the same stilted english accent.

The reason why he's "supporting" VegasJon in the Rev article is precisely because it runs opposite to a version of the article which I would seem to support. He's also gone to a number of other areas of the site in order to call me a "sockpuppet", amongst other things.

The guy's a headache, and to be quite honest, I've got no idea what to do about him.

As you seeing, more and more personal attacks and sockppupets acusations. I'm fighting with this guy because he loves POV pushing and don't respect the Wikipedia community. --Quackshot 00:47, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

About Me[edit]

I'm not "Brazil4Linux". I just reverted the edition of this user that I think is more neutral. This Doom127 user start accusating me to be a sockpuppet because I'm another people engaged against POV pushing in video games articles in Wikipedia.--Quackshot 00:50, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Not a single personal attack at all here. I present the facts, as they stand:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Ken_Kutaragi&action=history

01:01, 4 December 2005

Ken Kutaragi article, Brazil4Linux begins revert war.
19:06, 10 December 2005,
200.147.104.218, an IP address traced back to Brazil4Linux, assumes his reverts.
21:22, 11 December 2005,
200.147.97.92 another IP address traced back to Brazil4Linux, continues his reverting, despite other legit users noticing who he is.
23:46, 14 December 2005,
Quackshot account created, IMMEDIATELY begins resuming prior reversion of Ken K article. Uses the EXACT SAME writing style as previous Brazil4Linux. His only significant changes have been engaging in this revert war.
After I requested the article be protected, Quackshot has followed my contributions to other places such as this page here, giving me one hell of a headache. Daniel Davis 00:54, 16 December 2005 (UTC) (Doom127)[reply]
Can you post the logs that prove that I Brazil4Linux, with proper IPs? Lots of Brazilian are here in Wikipedia, I'm not alone. --Quackshot 00:57, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
"Lots of Brazilian are here in Wikipedia"

But NONE of those Brazilians would create a wikipedia account specifically for the sole purpose of trying to BACK YOU UP. Daniel Davis 00:58, 16 December 2005 (UTC) (Doom127)[reply]

Listen, I really don't care. The point is that this dispute is going happening on multiple talk pages, and is hampering the ability of other edits to do constructive work. As I said on the Nintendo Revolution page, there needs to be more of an effort to get mediation. Just because Ken Kutaragi is locked doesn't mean you go on somewhere else. You don't need to point out these accusations on every single talk page you meet. Jacoplane 00:58, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with You Jaco. Look, Doom127 is desperated because he just found a user engaged top fight with POV Pushing and revert wars. He can't prove sockpuppets with IPs, He only stands with this obsolete lame dispute. Is hard continue with this, Is like a child accusing their enemy. I just find my right as Wikipedia user. --Quackshot 01:02, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Jaco, I just want this guy to leave me alone! I was the one who requested the Kuteragi page be locked so that Brazil COULD talk about it instead of having revert wars! Daniel Davis 01:01, 16 December 2005 (UTC) (Doom127)[reply]
I'm not trying to take sides with anyone. I'm going to request another mediation attempt. I'm not an admin, nor a mediator, so at this point there's little that I can do. Jacoplane 01:03, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I welcome that very much. I don't know how much good it's going to be, but getting a mediator involved in this is always a great first step. Daniel Davis 01:05, 16 December 2005 (UTC) (Doom127)[reply]

Blanking image at Wikiproject CVG[edit]

Re: your edit here, the image was blanked on November 1 ([2]). According to the editor who blanked the image, "it is apparently against Wikipedia policy to include fair use images outside of the article namespace." ... I don't really mind, but if other people see you listed on WikiFanatic's admin nom page, then they may take a dim view of it. MMORPG table[edit]

I think the table looks really good. If you want to change it you have to go here: Wikipedia:Gaming Collaboration of the week/current. Thunderbrand 16:26, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jacoplane,

I want to propose restarting this collaboration. I have put a comment on the Project talk page as well, but since no one has responded there, I thought it was best to ask members who'd been involved earlier, individually. I was not here when the drive first started, and stopped, so I would not have encountered any problems that might have arisen/might arise, but I want to give it an honest try because I believe it can be, and should be, made to work. Please let me know what you think about it. Thanks. -Aabha (talk) 11:39, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations![edit]

Congratulations! It's my pleasure to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. You might find the new administrators' how-to guide helpful. Cheers! -- 16:14, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

GCOTW[edit]

The collaboration thing ends soon and I was wondering for the statistics I do at the History page, do I count the edits made at List of MMORPGs/Temp? I'm guessing you are gonna paste in into the actual article? Cause at the actual List of MMORPGs page people have edited it during the timeframe.

Also, congratulations on becoming an admin! Thunderbrand 23:58, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've redone the AID History page as you'd suggested on the talk page. But I don't know what to do with the details for Bobby Charlton. It had the Football COTW template on it from the time it was selected (on September 15) till I changed it to the Nomination one on December 27, so I'm not sure what all edits to take into consideration. Also, can you please tell me how to arrive at the "x bytes to y bytes" change?
Have a look at the way the Indian COTW History page is done, do you think that is a still better format? Thanks -Aabha (talk) 16:21, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Screenshot prohibited in Wikipedia[edit]

User:Nv8200p is blanking and removing all screenshots from videogames articles, Playstation 2 and Xbox articles was victtims. The argument is screenshot is not compilant with fair use.

Playstation 2[edit]

Cool, I'll turn over policing the Xbox, Playstation, etc. articles to your projrct. Somewhere I read there should be as few fairuse images as possible and only one screenshot per article. Of cource, I cannot find that reference when I need it. If I do, I'll post it for you., Please revert as you wish. -Nv8200p talk 19:36, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Images policy states "some fair use of copyrighted material is however allowed in limited circumstances." These galleries of fair use screenshots are abusive in my opinion and are copyright infringement as they are not used in an article about the specific game. -Nv8200p talk 19:50, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:Fair use states again "The amount of copyrighted work used should be as little as possible." and "the material must contribute significantly to the article (e.g. identify the subject of an article, or specifically illustrate relevant points or sections within the text) and must not serve a purely decorative purpose." The screenshots in Xbox and Playstation 2 articles are purely decorative as they are in a gallery with no related text. Please consider these points for your Wikiproject. -Thanks Nv8200p talk 20:02, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mediation request[edit]

Hi Jacoplane, GoldDragon and Doom127 —

I'm sorry that there has been no response until now about the mediation request left at WP:RFM#Ken_Kutaragi. Is there still a desire to hold a mediation? Please remember that both parties involved must agree to the mediation — it's entirely voluntary and everyone must be trying to reach peace. If not all parties want mediation, your better alternatives may be WP:RFC and WP:RFAr (the latter only if previous dispute resolution steps have been followed).

If there is a desire from all parties to be involved in mediation, then one can be set up. Otherwise I can delete the entry.

GCOTW[edit]

Can you please show support for Shoot 'em up ? I feel it really needs a collab real bad. I'll help you with Wave race 64 individually if you want, as i think it needs less work than shoot em up. pleeeeesse :) --Larsinio

Sources[edit]

Could you help me with a simple question? For my information, because I really don't know, when editing a controversial topic, is it allowed to insert comments by critics based upon editorials? Or does that constitute NPOV violation? You can answer here, but to get an idea of what I mean you can look for more info at Talk:Samuel_Alito#Opponents_of_the_unitary_executive_theory and at Talk:Samuel_Alito#Requests for comment.--Nomen Nescio 07:26, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Edit Conflict / text lost[edit]

Hi! Thanks for info about merging edit conflict. I actually knew that: what happened was that I cleared out a lot of tabs in my browser - without noticing that one of them had an edit conflict showing :( But thanks! Rasmus (talk) 10:04, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you![edit]

Your added links[edit]

I noticed you added several links to the Game Controller page. While the Sockmaster page is an entirely different discussion altogether, the 1Up page is REALLY interesting. The reason for that is that 1Up states that the N64 controller stick is really digital, not analog at all! Do you know if this is accurate? Thanks.
