Re: Employer Objections to Contributions[edit]

If you made contributions to Diorhabda beetles not during work time, they don't have any rights to ask you to modify/remove anything as this is your private life. This is the same principle as telling you where to watch your next movie or shop for your groceries.

If your employers persist, tell them that anyone with access to scientific journal database, not just you, can write about the beetles and use those references. Second, all materials from USDA/ARS are in public domain so there is no need to request for permission on using information or remove contents from Wikipedia because it's a potential for inaccurate information inserted onto the article. Public domain sources are not required to be credited by law, though it's always appreciated if you do so. Inform your supervisor that this is the policy for the entire federal U.S. government and the right approach is to ask your supervisor to contact the copyright to explain to him. Your supervisor will have to cut through so much redtape that he's going to give up. For now, don't worry about it. If this problem really occurs, let me know right away and I'll redirect you to the right person who is capable to explain such cases better than me.

P.S. When I mean Wikipedia, I also mean Wikispecies because they're essentially the same (only Wikispecies is less prone to inaccurate information. OhanaUnitedTalk page 02:53, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I don't use that feature so I'm not familiar with it. OhanaUnitedTalk page 04:35, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
