Your recent edit to Ground support equipment[edit]

Your most recent edits to Ground support equipment seem to be helpful. However, I noticed that you removed all uses of the term "baggage cart" and replaced it with "dollies for loose baggage". That may be the term used in some parts of the world, but note that other countries use the term "baggage cart". I suggest that both terms be included in the article. Thanks for advise. I am in airport industry focusing on baggage handling system. There is indeed confusion on the term "baggage cart". My update to the Ground support equipment page is based on the following four reasons:

(1) The Wikipedia page on baggage cart defined them as "small vehicles pushed by travelers (human-powered) to carry individual luggage".

(2) The Wikipedia pages of baggage and luggage are identical.

(3) Google image search unambiguously defined what is "luggage cart", "luggage trolley", "baggage tractor" and "Dolly (trailer)".

(4) There is no contest on definition on Dolly (trailer) which are designed to be tugged by a tractor. I have provided a photo which helps in distinguishing between "Dollies carrying a removable Unit load device" and "Dollies for loose baggages". The latter's baggage compartment is fixed to the underlying chassis. My suggested generic name is only mean to avoid using the confusing name "baggage cart" before someone can update its definition in the Wiki page baggage cart.

You make good points there. It looks like some more work needs to be done to clear all the confusion. While the generic term you used makes sense, it (alone) doesn't quite describe the real world. If anyone in the US wanted to learn about actual terms used on the airport ramp, this wouldn't cut it. "Bag cart" is the most common term used for a "dolly for loose baggage", so I think it at least deserves a mention. I do like the picture you included as it's very helpful. Also, the article for luggage redirects to baggage, that is why they are the same. HuffTheWeevil / talk / contribs 05:07, 18 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
