Hi Jamie, and welcome to Wikipedia. The problem with adding the text "therefore the translation unifying energy describes the art better" to the Aikido article is twofold. Firstly, the statement is now being cited by Stan Pranin's definition of aiki (at [1]), which doesn't use the term "unifying energy" at all, nor does it make a claim that this is the best translation of the term "aikido". Secondly, the claim that this phrase "describes the art better" is a subjective one, which is now being expressed in Wikipedia's voice - we don't editorialise here, so such phrasing isn't appropriate. Whilst I'm not particularly onboard with the current definition myself, that understanding of aiki is what is promulgated in the source, and hence what Wikipedia will use as a definition.
