Amín-i-Iláhí

Do you have a suggestion for cleaning up that page? I think the context is fine and there are enough lnks to cover whatever is not understood. People will only find this page after rumaging through a bunch of other similar pages. Cuñado - Talk 18:42, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Neutrality of Czechoslovakia history articles

I have got a concern about pages related to the history of Czechoslovakia. Although they are very well written and are very long, most of the text was created by one user, with not much input. I feel they might be a bit POV espesicaly parts about minorities (there was some dispute on the Czech wikipedia). I do not know, how to tag those articles. I do not see POV on the first sight so I do not want dispute them. But I would like to attract users with different oppinoins (Germans, Hungarians, and people from "neutral" states) to read it and say, "hay this might be POV" or "hey, thats good". --Jan Smolik 12:17, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

I saw your comment on Sabeel article and I wanted to make sure that you have read the Wikipedia:NPOV and Wikipedia:POV articles. You probably know that POVs are allowed in wikipedia as long as they are attributed to someone. I just wanted to make sure since you are a relatively new user. CIS

The Bush analogy has me puzzled. I'm not a believer in Bush family conspiracy theories, although I've never voted for any of them. There's nothing wrong with an organization based in Texas observing an election in Florida (my home state, btw) featuring a member of the Bush family on the ballot, if it has a good reputation... Regarding the CIS, there's little need to get bogged down in the details surrounding the organization in articles related the Belarus election. This is a wiki. I will always more trust to the neutral observers rather than home observers. I think that the issue has more to do with institutions than locale. Technically Belarus is a member of both the OSCE and CIS. The difference, according to officials with the OSCE's monitoring unit, is that the OSCE's methodology is more rigorous than the CIS's. I think that they are clearly correct. (BTW, a good article was published by Radio Free Europe on the topic. [1]) The nationality of the observers does not matter per se if the organization has the resources needed to be effective, if it's transparent, and if it's professional. If the CIS were a more effective inter-governmental organization, in theory it could one day play a more effective role in monitoring elections in member states... Regarding the articles in question, I don't think we need to go in detail on the debate over the varying standards of the respective monitoring units of the two organizations. That topic is more complex than one would expect at first glance, and thus best covered in the articles that one can access by clicking the hyperlinks to the related articles. 172 | Talk 19:25, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Talk:Dwarf planet/Naming#A New Proposal

I notice that in the current vote at Talk:Dwarf planet/Naming#A New Proposal, you have voted as I did - to "just let this be for 6 months or so, and see how things pan out.". I'm quite suprised to see that a consensus around Option 3 "Dwarf planets should have their title as Name (dwarf planet) or just Name depending on how well known they are compared to other things with the same name. Should this option be endorsed the use of (dwarf planet) should be decided on individual pages." actually appears to be forming; however some people are taking the votes to delay considering this as ammunition that there is no consensus. As such, I've switched my vote to Option 3, to help support a consensus, and end this debate. I'm not going to ask you do the same; but I thought you'd like to be aware of what is happening. I will try second computer where firewall runs (I only can disable it there) but it needs my brother not being home :). Czech Alphabet

Hi, I just read a comment you made a while back on a talk page, where you mentioned that;

• In Czech we usually consider letters žščřďťňě and also "ch" (pronounced like Spanish x in Mexico) while "long" letters áéíóúůíý to be only letters with diacritics. Thus Czech alphabet has 36 letters.

I notice this information doesn't seem to be mentioned in the article on the Czech alphabet and wondered if you thought it should be, and if so whether you had any references for it.Number36 (talk) 00:49, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
