For reference, I would rather keep discussions about Wikipedia on Wikipedia, unless there is sensitive or confidential information involved.

If you looked in my edit summary for why I removed this image from the two pages it was previously displayed on, I linked to WP:NFCC#9 which says that we can't show non-free images except for in actual articles. It's entirely possible that the image could be restored to the article about The Turnip-Snedder if and when it goes live.

Now it is not a question of fair use, specifically, as our non-free content policy and guideline are intentionally and explicitly more strict than required by the law. Just because the UK cover art is already in use on Wikipedia does not mean that there is automatically justification to use the US cover art as well—each use must be examined individually.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this. VernoWhitney (talk) 15:01, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jason -- I've added some more advice at your Teahouse question. Hope it helps! One other thing -- with an account, you are not obliged to submit articles to the article creation system, you can just create them yourself if you genuinely think you've given enough sources to establish notability. I wouldn't suggest it with the Rilke translation as the article stands, but the material you've added to "The Turnip-Snedder" looks adequate to me (though I'm no expert in poetry).
Don't give up, your contributions are excellent and you'll soon get the hang of where best to place material and how to satisfy the notability requirements. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 03:32, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:HeaneyDistrict US.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:HeaneyDistrict US.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 08:35, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Wikoates2.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
