Ways to improve Prasenjit Sen[edit]

Hi, I'm Compassionate727. Jayantkp, thanks for creating Prasenjit Sen!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. You have a good start on this article. It just needs some basic formatting things and it'll be good.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Compassionate727 (talk) 18:23, 7 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Always cite your sources[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Worldbruce. I noticed that you made a change to an article, List of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur alumni, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please do not, however, re-add Prasenjit Sen without providing citations that demonstrate that he's an alum and he satisfies Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Worldbruce (talk) 08:44, 8 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Concentrate on referencing to prove notability[edit]

Information icon Your recent edit removed a maintenance template from Prasenjit Sen. Before removing maintenance templates, be sure to resolve the problem that the template refers to. The only references cited in the article are things written by Sen. They are primary sources that are not independent of Sen. So as it stands now the article does nothing to establish that Sen is notable, in other words that the article belongs in Wikipedia. The maintenance template alerts editors that the article needs help. Remember that editors do not own articles and should respect the work of their fellow contributors. Others are free to change articles you create. Worldbruce (talk) 05:58, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Respect maintenance templates[edit]

Please stop continuing to remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Prasenjit Sen, without resolving the problem that the template refers to. This may be considered disruptive editing. Further edits of this type may result in your account being blocked from editing. Worldbruce (talk) 15:19, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Avoid asserting ownership[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. However, please remember that editors do not own articles and should respect the work of their fellow contributors on Prasenjit Sen. If you create or edit an article, remember that others are free to change its content. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Worldbruce (talk) 16:23, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive editing[edit]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you remove the maintenance templates from Wikipedia articles without resolving the problem that the template refers to, as you did at Prasenjit Sen. Worldbruce (talk) 16:31, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Understanding external links and references[edit]

External links (http links to pages outside of Wikipedia) should not be in the body of an article (see Wikipedia:External links). For example, the three external links in the first sentence of the Career section of article Prasenjit Sen are inappropriate.

"He is currently rector at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and professor in School of Physical Sciences."

These external links should be removed or turned into footnote references. To use an http link as a reference, enclose it in <ref></ref> tags. For example, the text He is currently rector at [[Jawaharlal Nehru University]], New Delhi<ref>http://www.jnu.ac.in/Administration/Rector-II.asp</ref> will render as:

He is currently rector at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi[1]

References

  1. ^ http://www.jnu.ac.in/Administration/Rector-II.asp

Some external links may appear in the External links footer section, but these should be kept to a minimum and there are numerous restrictions about what links are acceptable. A biography typically has one external link, to the official webpage, if any, of the subject. A few biographies have two or three external links. There is very rarely any justification for having ten or more external links in a biography. Consider, for example, these good articles about Indian scientists: A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Lalji Singh, and Sunil Kumar Verma, which have one, one, and four external links respectively.

The entries in the External links section of Prasenjit Sen are links to avoid because they do not provide unique information about Sen that could not be incorporated into the article by improving the article. They appear to have been included to prove that he was the author of a particular work, or that he participated in a particular event. They should be turned into references, using the technique explained above.

I have restored the {{external links}} maintenance tag because the article does not follow Wikipedia's guidelines on the use of external links. The maintenance tag is a reminder that this needs to be fixed and serves to advertise to other editors that the article needs their help. Do not remove the maintenance tag until all of the problems with external links in the article have been corrected. Worldbruce (talk) 02:14, 11 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Respect other editors[edit]

Information icon Please do not assume ownership of articles as you did at Prasenjit Sen. If you aren't willing to allow your contributions to be edited extensively or be redistributed by others, please do not submit them.

Speedy deletion nomination of Jayantkp/sandbox[edit]

Hello Jayantkp,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Jayantkp/sandbox for deletion, because it seems to be a test. Did you know that the Wikipedia Sandbox is available for testing out edits?

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Prof TPMS (talk) 14:50, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mansha international, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. September 2016[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Mansha international, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Information icon Hello, Jayantkp. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. —SpacemanSpiff 12:16, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
