Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Brit01.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Brit01.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:56, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate images uploaded[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Brit drawn by Cliff Rathburn.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Brit by Cliff Rathburn.jpg. The copy called Image:Brit by Cliff Rathburn.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 23:14, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Brit drawn by Cliff Rathburn.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Brit drawn by Cliff Rathburn.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:21, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Brit01.jpg[edit]

Multiple issues: You seem intent on pushing edits which contradict image guidelines:

  1. For fair use images, there is a size restriction. The image must be low rez. The guidelines are set at a size of no more than 0.1 megapeixel, that would be roughly a square 316 pixels to a side. The image you are reverting to is 0.38 megapixel, more than 3 time the size specified. Yes the other one is over sized as well, but since it's just the figure, an argument can be made for detail.
  2. Don't use a home page for the source. If the image is accessable to the general public on the comicartcommunity.com site, link the that specific page.
  3. The image you prefer is, at best, the artwork for the cover. The cover includes all trade dress - title, company logo, pricing, etc - that exists on the cover as published.
  4. The copyright information is needed since it is not a free use image.

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Image:Brit01.jpg. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Please see the above section for the resolution issues with the image.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
