I don't understand what exactly is the point of this essay. Is it saying we should delete all fictional character categories? --Jupiter Optimus Maximus (talk) 21:03, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No. - jc37 17:13, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So what is it saying? --Jupiter Optimus Maximus (talk) 14:40, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That per policy/guidelines, categorisation of an individual character or a group of characters by "in-universe" information (which is defined at the top of the page) is, in most cases, WP:OR, and thus shouldn't be done.
Note that there are a lot of other fictional character-related categories to which this doesn't apply. - jc37 22:43, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Such as? --Jupiter Optimus Maximus (talk) 23:50, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, for example, the first several subcats of Category:Fictional characters are parent cats which compose quite a few trees and schemes. - jc37 03:28, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
