On sial vs. SiAl, sima vs. SiMg

Dear JChurchward, the names "sial" and "sima" are not chemical formulas and are not based on the symbols of the elements. They are geologist's jargon, based on the *names* of the elements, and they should be written the way geologists write them. In particular, the name for the oceanic crust layer is "sima" and not "SiMa" or "SiMg". This is not something that you or I have the authority to decide upon. Compare with "mafic rock" whose name comes from "magnesium and ferric", or "felsic rock" which comes from "felspar and silica" --- no capitals there either. 1.) Because there shouldn't be third party links within the text of the article (excluding footnotes), and 2.) the pictures did not seem to have any sort of license that would make them useable on Wikipedia. It would be possible to use an old image from a brochure and claim it as non-historic fair use if an image is requested.
