dividendinformation.com

[edit]

Thank you for clarifying your reasons for posting this link. Dividendinformation.com appears to be relatively benign, but it is a commercial website relying on ad revenue from google ads, prominently displayed on each page. Dozens of similar websites exist, purporting to provide financial information while displaying ads, pop-ups, or referral links on every page to generate revenue. Repeatedly linking to these websites can certainly be seen as spamming.

Wikipedia:External links contains guidelines for deciding which links to include. The most important items to remember in this situation are "Links in the 'External links' section should be kept to a minimum" and "Any site that does not provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain if it became a Featured article" should be avoided. Wikipedia is not an investors' guide; it is an encyclopedia containing a limited amount of well verified information.

The consensus seems to be that company articles should contain links to the companies discussed, and perhaps links to Google/Yahoo Finance, when appropriate. If the External links sections were to be extended to include every website listing financial information on companies, there would be dozens of links, most of which would be fairly useless. While your intentions may be good, there are hundreds of spammers who would like to get their websites listed across Wikipedia in order to generate traffic.

If you believe that dividendinformation.com is a unique and valuable link to include on Wikipedia, you may continue to use it as you see fit. I will not persist in undoing your edits. I will leave it to the Wikipedia community to decide if they agree with you.
Regards,
