Jetta - Livin'[edit]

Hey @Jettasno1fan, sorry my edit summary was too brusque when I deleted the Jetta album from List of 2022 albums (July–December). I definitely want people to add more qualifying albums to the lists, and I don't want to discourage contributions. And I certainly didn't mean to say that Jetta, the artist, is not notable. It was rude for me not to provide a more detailed reason for the removal.

Basically the important thing to note is that albums do not "inherit" notability from their artists. Jetta is notable, but the album Livin' might not be notable yet. It's also important to note that notability is not the same thing as important -- something can be important in many ways without being "notable" for Wikipedia's purposes. When we're deciding what is "notable" and what isn't, we generally look at two places: the "general notability guideline" WP:GNG, and various "subject-specific notability guidelines" (WP:NALBUM in this case). I would say that the most common way notability is established for albums is the first criterion of WP:NALBUM:

1. The recording has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent from the musician or ensemble who created it.

So when @QuietHere, one of the other frequent editors on that page, removed your more recent edit, it was because the source provided, the Apple Music link, did not establish notability in this way or by any of the other criteria, and we both could not find significant coverage of the album in reliable sources to demonstrate that people are talking about this album specifically. If we did, then we would have added a better reference rather than just deleting the entry. If the album starts to get news coverage and/or reviews from multiple reliable sources, then that could be grounds to add it to the list. (Our rule of thumb on the year lists is coverage in 3 articles, from sources known to WikiProject Albums to be reliable. Consensus was established in this discussion.)

Thanks for understanding. And thanks for adding that Linda Lindas album to the 2022 list, I saw them at Pitchfork in June and they kicked ass.
