Merit badge collecting FAC[edit]

I have put this article Merit badge collecting (BSA) up as a Featured Article Candidate. Many improvements have been made this week. I thought may like to look at it again and if so inclined, vote on it. Thanks Rlevse 00:28, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This article is now called History of merit badges (Boy Scouts of America) and became an FA on 19 Jan. I am also now the coordinator of the Scouting WikiProject. Thanks for getting me started. Rlevse 15:20, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for cleaning up after me on Ashida Kim; I couldn't tell if any of that section was legit or not with of all the vandalism going on. Peyna 22:05, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you removed the {{badJPEG}} tag from Image:Adv logo rgb.jpg, with the explanation that this image is a fair-use logo, not something created by a Wikipedian. This is correct, but it doesn't mean that a PNG or SVG version can't be created by a Wikipedian to replace it, so I've replaced the {{badJPEG}} tag. If you still disagree with me, please let me know. —Bkell 00:24, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Final Fantasy logos sandbox[edit]

Hey, JiFish. I was checking out some of the logo images for the Final Fantasy series, and I noticed a number of them were linked to User:JiFish/Sand/Final Fantasy logos. Technically speaking, since they are all fair use images, they're not supposed to be used inline outside of the article namespace according to Wikipedia fair use guidelines. I'm not inclined to do anything about it, but others might be, so I just wanted to make sure you were aware of the issue. If so, sorry for intruding. – Seancdaug 12:55, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Help -- Vandal and Porn[edit]

Jfish: A page I've been working this am was vandalized just now, 12:46pm or so on 16 Dec, east coast time. The article is The National Scout Organization of Thailand and they put a large photo of a male penis on it. The edit does not show up in the edit page, nor does the use show on the history page. HOW DO I FIX THIS AND REPORT IT??? Rlevse 17:52, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

PS THEY JUST DID IT TO MY Merit badge types (BSA) page too. Rlevse 17:53, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE the porn image disappeared just now, but I want to trace it and report it if possible. I find it interesting it happened to two of the Scouting pages I work on at the same time. Rlevse 17:56, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

User Jergen reports: "66.240.8.178 inserted the offending picture in one of the templates used in both articles (and also a lot more) - so his vandalism doesn't show in the history. He's banned for the next two weeks. --jergen 21:22, 16 December 2005 (UTC)" Rlevse 21:29, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

LOL[edit]

Just noticed that babel box thingy that you added. Very funny! :)  Grue  22:17, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Jimbo[edit]

I noticed your recent revert on my edits on Jimbo Wales. Since the article's allegations are pretty clearly substantiated by the article's own edit history, then what burden of proof would you like to be met? Matt Gies 19:31, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to comment on this too, since I'm the author of the blog entry. The source for my entry is Wikipedia's edit history, all of which I've linked on my blog. If you review those edits and feel anything I've written is misleading, please let me know Rcade 19:47, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. The blog isn't the "source" of the allegations, it simply details them by pointing to Wikipedia itself; undoubtedly a verifiable source. AaronSw 19:59, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, based on this apparent consensus I'm reverting JiFish's revert of me. Matt Gies 20:02, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for contacting me. I nomally reply on user's talk pages, but since this three people have contacted me, I thought it best to reply here.
Blogs and wikipedia itself aren't considered reliable sources for the purposes of referencing facts in a wikipedia article. As for what would be, I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that question. A reputable media source (Such as a national newspaper) would definitly be acceptable. But I suggest you take this to Talk:Jimmy Wales to discuss what kind of sources would be required for such a claim.
I disagree with the that the article history justifies the claim "Wales was conspicuously trying to obscure his past links to the world of pornography". I also disagree that three people on my talk page is a concensous.
Regardless, this is most definitly going to be a controversal edit and as such it should be discussed on the article's talk page before edits are made. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 20:07, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

BitTorrent[edit]

Thanks for adding this article to the external links, to-do list. With that many links, I (as a reader) have no idea which one to click for useful further information about BitTorrent. --Kmf164 21:21, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Hi, I'm selling these fine leather jackets and would just like to thank you for reverting the nonsense on my talk page. Sorry about the poor joke, but I couldn't resist it after seeing the Guybrush reference on your userpage. Here's to Ron Gilbert! Leithp (talk) 15:51, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

LEXX vs. Lexx[edit]

I will move the pages as you request so that it will read LEXX Movie and LEXX Episode.

RE: FF links/project[edit]

I think the site I added is fairly notable, but I don't know where it fits into the Project other than that. Where exactly would I go to suggest it for inclusion?

FFshrine images on the FF8 characters list[edit]

Hiya - I'd much prefer not to have the link on the page either, however FFshrine do ask that the link appear "on every page in which they appear". On the other hand, its unlikely the images were released to FFshrine exclusively, and unless they were I guess they don't have much of a case for saying where and how they should be used... >Gamemaker 15:52, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image tag[edit]

I found this image with no use/copyright tag: Image:48m.jpg ... what to do? See my other note under merit badge talk on your page here. Rlevse 15:21, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, you weren't too blunt. I was new and you told me what I needed to do. Pls visit my user page if you haven't recently. Rlevse 15:34, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RFAr?[edit]

Do you think these Vost issues should be sent to RFAr is this keeps up? Deckiller 19:42, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. I told Vost I wouldn't get too entangled if necessary, but I will bring up my points from time to time if necessary. Deckiller 23:52, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lorien Trust: Bears' Website[edit]

Thanks for the quick fix for the Bears link. I hadn't noticed that the page I'd linked to hadn't been updated since 2003. :-) Do you think that the link should be further updated to "http://www.gazimoff.com/" since the current page merely redirects with the message, "This website has now been transferred"? Stelio 20:12, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm in the Dragons, one of the Dwarves of Borthawr. :-D It's as a member of the Militia Special Projects that I know about the new Militia website, so I thought I ought to fix the other links too. How about you? And by the way, nice one for putting up the LT Wiki page in the first place. Stelio 21:30, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unfounded reverts of Final Fantasy VIII article[edit]

JiFish, your reversions of my edits on the Final Fantasy VIII article are unfounded and contradictive. Firstly, ALL Final Fantasy games in the main series after Final Fantasy I ARE sequels. They need not be directly related since the primary definition of sequel according to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language is "something that follows, a continuation." I have already stated this in my posts but you have once again abused your position at WikiPedia to revert an accurate and correct edit. There are many other video games and movies which bear sequels that are unrelated to the original in terms of characters or main story line. Here are some examples: The horror movies House and House II are not related. The action thrillers Prophecy 4 and Prophecy 5 are unrelated to Prophecy 1, 2, and 3. The horror movie “Curse” had about 2 or 3 unrelated sequels which followed it. The Namco series “Tales” has subsequent installments unrelated to the previous.

Also, if you reference the article “Computer and video game clichés” on Wikipedia.org, you will see that it is explicitly stated at the end of the “Sequels, midquels, and prequels” section, that the Final Fantasy games ARE sequels. The basic idea of the sequel is that it has the general “feel” of the previous installment evident in its plot, and that it usually bears the same title. Please reference this article and correct the changes you made on the Final Fantasy VIII article, otherwise I will be forced to take further action.

Secondly, why do you require me to cite a source for stating that the game harbored polar opinions, yet DO NOT require sources or have problems with the current revision of "the game caused mixed reactions"? It is a COMMON fact that this game was received with a love/hate relationship in the gaming community and it is a much more accurate statement than saying the game received mixed reactions. Someone who is reading the "Reception and Criticism" section of the article will understand the gaming community's reaction much better than by simply stating "the game had mixed reactions." I believe you are biased in this regard and should revert your edits back to mine. I have chosen not to change the Final Fantasy VIII article due to your continued abuse of your position here at WikiPedia, but will take action if you do not correct your current disposition.

Thirdly, as mentioned above, the fact that Final Fantasy VIII created a polarization of opinions is commonly known. I can gather at least 30 websites where the reviews, forums, and polls of respected game review organizations and the gaming community in general reflect this fact. But why should I do this when I am up against certain bias and abuse of authority on a public web board which blatantly portrays a misuse of power? You need sources for my edits, but you do not have problems with the edits to which you have reverted, not to mention that my edit is of an axiomatic nature. This is not what WikiPedia is about, and I hope you will correct yourself and change the article to reflect once again my accurate revisions; otherwise I will be forced to take further action with administrators and/or edit the article myself.

Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Vost=wiki-nazi[edit]

Vost is a wiki-nazi. He said I was a vandal and sent an angry, if not pathetic, warning via wikipedia which was received by my co-worker (we share a computer as our desks often switch). All I did was update FF8 with info, but it was deleted b/c there was no source. Fine, I get it. I contribute often on wikipedia. But then an angry warning afterwards? I'm not a vandal. I didn't write "HAIRY BALLS" on the page. Vost is a wiki-nazi and he will scare newcomers away —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.166.195.2 (talkcontribs)

Vost isn't even a wiki-nazi, he's a newcomer. He doesn't even know the subst:test series of templates. Don't take offense to him :) He's not really a bad guy, but he does have some strong opinions. Happy editing! Deckiller 20:03, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tech Problem[edit]

The Wiki help system does not reveal a place to report this. The closest thing is to leave a msg on the talk page, but I can't. The Scouting Portal stopedd working this am. When I call it up, all I get is a part of the intro section, nothing more, no talk page, no article tab, nothing else. Please help. Rlevse 17:43, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
