July 2019[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Creffett. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to Ratliff Boon have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. findagrave is not a reliable source and generally isn't an appropriate external link creffett (talk) 22:04, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

February 2021[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Exceller88. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Exceller88 (talk) 09:07, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:43, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

April 2023[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Vernon, Indiana. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Matt Deres (talk) 01:29, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. To repeat the notice from July 2019, please do not add links to findagrave to articles. DrKay (talk) 17:52, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

You've been asked repeatedly to stop inserting links to unreliable sources -- specifically, findagrave. You have not engaged in discussion on your talk page or elsewhere. Hopefully, this will get your attention; certainly, it will stop you from doing this. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 14:07, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

My primary editing is adding FindAGrave links to persons pages and also to fix typos. I have not misedited or vandalized any pages and ask for a chance to be allowed to edit. Thank you.

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 11:42, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Unblock[edit]

I understand what I have been blocked for will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and will make useful contributions instead. I will help contribute to the ongoing educational articles provided here. Thank you. JimRockfordFiles (talk) 13:07, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You need to make a new unblock request. You should explain what you now understand about FindAGrave links that you didn't understand before you were blocked. --Yamla (talk) 13:09, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your unblock request is almost certain to be declined unless you answer the question I posed about the links. --Yamla (talk) 13:31, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock[edit]

{unblock|reason=My question is why are Findagrave links a reason to be blocked? It is a reliable website and I was one of the first contributors to that website.}} JimRockfordFiles (talk) 13:54, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:FINDAGRAVE-EL. No, it's not a reliable source, any more than Wikipedia itself is. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 14:04, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thank you. Please unblock my account. JimRockfordFiles (talk) 14:12, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Are you committed to not inserting links to findagrave again? As far as I can see you've never done anything else. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 14:24, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. JimRockfordFiles (talk) 14:25, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK. I've unblocked and disabled the remaining unblock requests. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 14:27, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your behaviour after getting your block lifted[edit]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia.

I came here because you vandalized Morris, Illinois [1] by adding the same rejected non-notable "Gail Lewis, retired 10 year Walmart associate (2013-2023)" as a number of other disruptive vandals have.

Now I see that after having your block lifted May 6, 2023, for adding Findagrave links, and you promising not to do that anymore:
July 30, 2023 [2], August 7, 2023 [3], August 11, 2023 [4], August 26, 2023 [5], October 3, 2023 [6],[7], October 11, 2023 [8], October 22, 2023 [9], October 27, 2023 [10], November 12, 2023 [11], November 21, 2023 [12], November 23, 2023 [13], November 26, 2023 [14], November 27, 2023 [15] signed, Willondon (talk) 17:03, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you think that some magic "verbiage" will get you unblocked, you are incorrect. You need to explain, in detail why you were blocked, and you need to explain in detail what you will avoid doing, and in detail what you will do to improve the encyclopedia if you are unblocked. In particular, you must explain in detail, your understanding of why findagrave.com is not a reliable source for use on Wikipedia. Cullen328 (talk) 02:53, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
