My proposal for a Wikipedia article to update or modify in requirement of my Technical Communication course at NJIT

Topic:
Crystal Filters

Crystal filter. (2011, February 12). In Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. Retrieved 20:40, November 3, 2011, from http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Crystal_filter&oldid=413457024

Wikipedia Definition:
"A crystal filter is a special form of quartz crystal used in electronics systems, in particular communications devices. It provides a very precisely defined centre frequency and very steep bandpass characteristics, that is a very high Q factor—far higher than can be obtained with conventional lumped circuits."

I feel this definition is fairly broad and doesn't allude to the more specific construction, characteristics, and nature of crystal filters. This article's initial definition could be expanded to provide a more clear explanation to the construction and purpose of crystal filters.

Choice Selection:
As an Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) major, circuit filters are a major factor in many classes of electronics, primarily communication devices. Upon reviewing this article, I felt that it did not supply me with sufficient information regarding the design, applications, and other characteristics of crystal filters. I hope to expand upon at least one core area of this topic to help further define the topic. This article is fairly bare, with only one reference for an application that, I felt after reviewing, isn't sufficient enough to create a more reliable and proper article.
