Jmadre1, I added some external links and an internal link as an example. Look in the "Help" section in the editing menu for more examples, but it's just as easy to look at how other articles are built to copy how they do. --RichardMcCoy (talk) 01:49, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Article Review[edit]

Jordan - I think you have a great start here to what defines the role of "registrar." One thing that I noticed was that, unlike many of our classmates who covered this collections care role, you did not address the role of registrar and collections manager as the same position in a museum. I noticed that Rebecca Buck in MRM5 also separates the two roles (p. 13). However, you included the duties of a collections manager (according to Buck) into the duties of a registrar. For me, I tend to think of the roles as one and the same. I've worked at institutions were someone identifies themselves as a registrar or collections manager and they often times have the same duties either way. To conclude my thought, what do you think would be listed differently under a "collections manager" article? Would there be overlap? Or are the two roles essentially the same? Just something to think about.

Also, I would include more hyperlinks in your article - to other Wiki articles and to outside sources. It makes it easier for users to explore the content presented on your page. I also found your "Career Ladder" section a little confusing. Perhaps you could write it out in sentence/paragraph form. Did you have a resource for the ladder? Your use of an image is great and adds visual interest to the page. Overall, it is a great start. Your content is organized really well and it provides a concise overview of the role of registrar. Response to Alison[edit]

Thanks for your feedback, Alison! I can see where I missed the mark on mentioning that a Collections Manager and Registrar can have overlapping duties, or even be one in the same. I tried to make the Career Ladder staggered in text to see who is supervising who, or who works closely with who, but it never worked out right. I will amend that section with a short paragraph to make it clear. I agree that I need external links. I put them in the text but forgot about other pertinent information that is linkable. Do you think it could be pertinent to also add external links on where to find or buy the book references I mentioned? Too much? Thanks!!

Article Review[edit]

Hi Jordan,

I think your page is incredibly well thought-out. I particularly enjoyed your "Direct Colleagues" section and the way in which you addressed the career ladder to the Registrar role. I think what is also good about your article, is that it is not only informative, but also provides resources for job openings and professional development. That is not something I have seen very often from Wikipedia pages, but is a great addition.

One thing that may have been helpful would be to link to the other museum roles you address in your article, especially since you distinguish between a Registrar and a Collections Manager. It would be interesting to see what distinguishes those two roles, since they are often lumped together (I'm thinking of the Registrar/Collections Manager (RCM) title that is often placed on this position). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Begirvan (talkcontribs) 17:34, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
