Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, discussion pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:A Separate Peace, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Please help me understand a) Who owns the discussion page and b) how do you define a "legitimate comment"? Are any set of random words legitimate?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmaioran (talk • contribs)

a) Nobody owns a discussion page, but nobody may refactor others' comments with limited exceptions. You would be better off deleting a comment in its entirety than making it appear that an editor said something they did not say. How would you feel if I changed your comments because I didn't like them?

A "legitimate comment" on a Talk page is one that is aimed at improving the article it's connected to, because that is the purpose of Talk pages. The comments you've been altering were made by someone attempting to discuss what (if anything) the article itself should say about the author. The fact that they are someone's opinion goes without saying, because (again) that is the purpose of Talk pages.

When you're done reading WP:TALK, WP:EDITWAR would be a good place to go next, because that is the second thing you've been doing that is unconstructive.

You were asked to read WP:TALK. Did you? Because it explains pretty clearly what the purpose of a Talk page is, and why you shouldn't engage in Orwellian shit like trying to edit someone else's comments to fit your viewpoint. Modifying posts

I don't understand why you continue to modify posts made by other editors after it has been explained to you that policy prohibits you from doing so in most circumstances. It is disruptive, so please stop doing so immediately.
