Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Joel2001k. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. DoubleGrazing (talk) 15:38, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I just disclosed my connection to Gsequencer on my user page. Would it be better, if ask a former contributor to submit the article?
Joel2001k (talk) 15:49, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi – it doesn't matter; by the sound of it, a "former contributor" would also have a COI.
You're welcome to submit the draft for review at AfC, but you're not allowed to publish it directly yourself.
That said, unless the sources cited are sufficient to satisfy WP:GNG, there is little point in submitting it, as it will inevitably be declined. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:59, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
