Betamovie camcorders[edit]

Very few people know there was Betamax/ Betamovie video cameras around a while ago ,and almost forgotten, and most gathering dust in a attic or put on ebay myself owning one or two myself in the past. John Johnstone Smith (talk) 04:18, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because... (There seem to be very little reference to these consumer based camcorders on wikipedia as "Betacam" is not consumer based it is off market professionally based, and the consumer based versions called Betamovie should be put into a encyclopedia, and with expirience of owning several in my life time i thought it would be a good chance to make a artical about Betamax video camera/ Betamovie camcorders that was only sold up to about 1985 your reason here) --John Johnstone Smith (talk) 04:27, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I did notice that there is more than one wikipedia page on the subject of "camcorders" like vhsc, 8mm so why should there not be a page on old consumer betamax camcorders that was made in the 1980s? i cannot see how this is against wikipedias policys, deleation of the Betamax video camcorder page would be like hiding history.John Johnstone Smith (talk) 05:50, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

At least let's get it right[edit]

The title should be "Betamax camcorders". A camcorder is a camera and recorder in one unit; it can be a "Betamax camcorder", as "Betamax" is a video recording format. Hence, camera and recorder in one unit that happens to use the Betamax format. But a "video camera" is a device with no recording capability of its own, merely a video output signal. Connecting this to a recorder does not create a "camcorder", and connecting it to a Betamax recorder does not produce a "Betamax video camera". Jeh (talk) 08:28, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

but if i entitled the page "betamax camcorders i would have had editors saying it should have been called "betamax video cameras" its a catch 22 because the betamax cameras was portables and then changed into camcorders so i compromissed and called them video cameras instead , a camcorder has to have have the recorder intergrated with the camera in order to catogaries it a camcorder , i do think "betamax camcorders" is a better title but then i mighthave got pulled up by a editor telling me that they was not "camcorders"|camcorders and portable video camera units" i think it is deleated now any wayJohn Johnstone Smith (talk) 09:57, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
