name[edit]

I am not fussed about the name. Any suggestions? John Vandenberg (chat) 08:06, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Some other possible names I briefly considered were "Worm of Knowledge", "Fun Facts", and "Tower of Babel". WOW would be a cute acronym since so many people compare Wikipedia to World of Warcraft, but "Worm of Wiki" was the best I could come up with for it. Wikipedia:Fact of the Day is already taken, however it isnt deeply linked because it is so old, but it does have a few subpages. John Vandenberg (chat) 08:29, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

seed and launch[edit]

To start something like this, we need to pick a first article, and a start date.

Some suggestions on how to do that:

  • find a good article that has lots of red links
  • ask someone like Raul to pick one of his choice
  • a competition; winner picks the seed article.
    • new articles within the week prior to the launch date.
  • I heard from Tony1 that there is a new featured list directorate of sorts who might be able to assist. Starting with a "list of .." article is likely to be a nice spot.
  • start from an article which has some symbolic meaning.
  • have a selection process which means wikiprojects can fight it out - e.g. number of new articles within the week
  • start from the first new article on the launch date
