Footy pages

[edit]

You hagve recently created a lot of very short football biography pages. I would suggest you add a stub tag to them. For the proper stubs please see: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Stub_sorting/Stub_types#Sport_biography. That helps other editors familiar in the area notified of the need for article expansion.--Tainter 01:58, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your edits to the Current squad section of the Aston villa f.c. page because you ignored the hidden text and did not reference your amendments. Until the season starts there will undoubtedly be much speculation. If you have a reputable source for your amendments then please add it, but i cannot find any statement releasing the squad numbers. I have left a note on the Talk:Aston Villa F.C. page about amending the current squad section. Any questions can be left on my talk page. Thanks Woodym555 21:57, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Either you jumped the gun or i was too far behind! Given the incredible accuracy of your squad list changes, you are either a player or someone who read the news article that i failed to find! ;) I am sorry for reverting your edits, but could you please provide a reference next time? Thanks Woodym555 23:40, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Player Stats

[edit]

Can you check to see if the stats you enter are correct? You just changed 6-7 Villa players' stats incorrectly after I had updated them correctly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mozman (talkcontribs) 19:55, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aston Villa reserves

[edit]

I have removed much of the information regarding the Hong Kong soccer sevens tournament from the Aston Villa reserves page. I think that it fails the guidelines laid out at WP:RECENT. In one years time would we really want an indepth, game by game, detailed account of a single, low-ranked tournament? I recommend making a page for the Hong Kong Sevens tournament and much of the information could go there. Any questions can be left on my talk page. Thanks Woodym555 23:38, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stats in footballer infoboxes

[edit]

Hi, you're probably not aware of this, but the stats for football player infoboxes (e.g. for Kevin Phillips) are for league appearances only. Therefore, a number of the changes you have recently made will need to be reverted back. Sorry! --Jameboy 16:52, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just one other thing - if you do update the infobox stats, such as with Martin Laursen, please can you update the timestamp in either the pcupdate parameter (when updating club stats) or ntupdate (when updating national team stats). That way it is easy to tell when the stats were updated, and the info isn't misleading. You can do this by replacing the existing timestamp with five tildes (~). Cheers. --Jameboy 22:12, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do you read your talk page? Please can you note the above. Thanks. --Jameboy 00:34, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Jonathan Hogg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Jonathan Hogg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ~ | twsx | talkcont | 08:58, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Marc Albrighton

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Marc Albrighton, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of the page. Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Nathan Delfouneso, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 01:59, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In case you haven't found it yet, the discussion about keeping/deleting it can be found here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nathan Delfouneso (3rd nomination). As the article creator, I think it would be good if you could contribute to the debate. At the very least, you'll be able to see how the decision (when it is eventually reached) to keep/delete the article was made. I have no idea how this is going to go - I and a fair few others are voting to keep it, but there are more than a few who think it should be deleted.
The argument for deletion is about the players lack of notability. However, it does look like (now he has been signed for a major team) he will shortly become notable. Those of us who want it kept is because it will save you (or others) having to recreate it from scratch should he become notable. Those against are taking the stance that he isn't notable yet, and he might not become notable - Wikipedia isn't a crystal ball. To be honest, posting the article was a bit premature, but as it is here, I think it should stay for a while, to give him chance to become notable. My opinion might not be enough, so I would thoroughly recommend copying the page as it stands and saving it, just in case it does get deleted. Should he play for the major team and become notable, then you should find recreating this page a lot easier. StephenBuxton (talk) 12:51, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Avfc1delfouneso2.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Avfc1delfouneso2.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. A tag has been placed on Image:Delfounesochasetown.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[Talk:Image:Delfounesochasetown.jpg|the article's talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Need your help

[edit]

Hi there Jonaldinho2004, as the section header suggests, I could do with your help. I need the Aston Villa F.C. statistics and records article to be referenced. Try as I might I can't find any references for the International section, specifically the first World Cup appearances and goals. Given that you added most, if not all, of these, you wouldn't happen to have any references for them? Any help in referencing anything else on the page would be much appreciated. Thanks and best regards. Woody (talk) 21:31, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:Bannanhk.jpg has been speedily deleted because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

Proposed deletion of Dominik Hofbauer

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Dominik Hofbauer, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Player fails WP:ATHLETE as has never played in a fully-pro league.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Aston Villa F.C.
