Hi Jorcoga! You've signed up to be a judge for the Esperanza User Page Award! You'll have three user pages to examine. The user pages you get coincide with your signup number. So if you signed up to be a judge in spot 1 than you will get nominations 1-3. Pick your favorite one, and list it in the finalist section. After all 5 judges have chosen a finalist it's time to award them 1-10 points in the four categories:

  • Attractiveness: general layout, considering colour scheme and/or use of tables if applicable
  • Usefulness: links to subpages or editing aids, helpful information
  • Interesting-ness: quirky, unique, captivating, or funny content
  • General niceness: at the judges' discretion

Please remember to include Subpages in your judging criteria. See the Scores section on this page for additional information on your job as a judge.

Keep in mind that your scores are confidential! Email Celestianpower with your scores and final picks. As soon as all the scores have been tallied, a winner will be announced! Thanks.

WP:ESP/UPA - Time to judge![edit]

Hello, Jorcoga. This is a quick message to remind you that all 5 finalists for the Esperanza User Page Award have been chosen. You now need to judge those 5 pages, awarding each one 1-10 points for attractiveness, usefulness, interesting-ness, general niceness and quality of subpages. Refer to the Scores section at the project page if you are unsure of how to score.

Once you have scored the 5 pages, email Celestianpower using the specified format. As soon as all the scores have been tallied, a winner will be announced. Thanks.

My RfA[edit]

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed with a tally of 91/1/4. I can't express how much it means to me to become an administrator. RfA thanks from StuffOfInterest[edit]

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which finished with a tally of 52/6/1 (~90%). It was an interesting process which gave me a chance to learn a bit about myself and about the community. My intention now is to slowly ease into using those additional buttons on my page. No use being over eager and mucking up the works. The support of all those who went over my record and/or rallied to my defense after the big oppose vote was instumental to the success of this review. Again, thank you! --StuffOfInterest 11:33, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Jorcoga, I was wondering of you could help me out with getting votes for expanding an article I started a while back. My old US Australia relations article is currently being considered for expansion by the Wikipedia:Australian Collaboration of the Fortnight. To vote, go here and scroll to the bottom.

As you are an Aussi, if you know much about political/economic/cultural/military/etc. relationship between the US and Australia, updating the US Australia relations page would be quite helpful.

November Esperanza Newsletter[edit]

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.
Signed...
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Hi Jorcoga. Thank you for your interest in the WikiTower. :-) Well, placing the WikiTower's easy, as I've turned it into a template, you just have to find any area on your page where it fits and add {{User:Husond/WikiTower}}. Please add something like idea borrowed from Husond to the bottom (so that a chain of credits may start like Coolcat's countries-been-to section in the bottom of my user page). Hmm, I made a few tries but I can't work it out either. I'm not used to this kind of layout... Also, I'm using a small screen and whatever looks fine for me might not look that well for users with bigger displays. Perhaps you could ask to Daniel.Bryant or Aeon1006, they're good at user pages. Regards.--Húsönd 05:38, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, why don't you create your userpage based on a simpler, more workable layout? Mine, for instance, is quite easy to work with. (I used Crna Gora's page as a start for mine btw). Regards--Húsönd 16:03, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The consensus to do this is based on both the template design specifications in WP:ZELDA#Templates and, particularly, A Man In P♙nk's Computer and video games WikiProject proposal, which was presented earlier, in October, (later drafted as a formal proposal) and had a number of editors supporting the idea of simplifying and standardizing computer and video game templates. A Man In P♙nk has done some standardization of his own on certain CVG templates per justifications from this particular WikiProject discussion. I also cited the WikiProject discussion in Template talk:Grand Theft Auto topics for at least two weeks with no response or feedback. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 18:01, 29 November 2006 (UTC) ╫[reply]

If you have a problem with the roboticness of the used templates, I suggest you withdraw the nomination on the committee and nominate the templates instead. You said it yourself, the committee itself isn't the problem. - Mgm|(talk) 09:49, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RFA[edit]

Hey, thanks so much for supporting my recent RFA. A number of editors considered that I wasn't ready for the mop yet and unfortunately the RFA did not succeed (69/26/11). There are a number of areas which I will be working on (including changing my username) in the next few months in order to allay the fears of those who opposed my election to administrator.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you sincerely for your support over the past week. I've been blown away by the level of interest taken in my RFA and appreciate the time and energy dedicated by all the editors who have contributed to it, support, oppose and neutral alike. I hope to bump into you again soon and look forward to serving you and Wikipedia in any way I can. Cheers! "Signatures that obscure an account name to the casual reader may be seen as disruptive.

and

"In consideration of users with vision problems, be sparing with color. If you must use different colours in your signature, please ensure that the result will be readable by people with color blindness."

I shoudn't think that I'm alone in finding your sig very difficult to read; in fact I had to look at the code to tell who you were. Do you think that you could edit it so that it's easily readable by people with normal sight, not to mention those with visual impairments? Thanks. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 18:21, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed it a bit, is this better? JorcogaYell! 01:00, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks — the first part's a bit more readable for me (though I think that anyone with slight vision problems might struggle); the "Yell!" is pretty difficult to make out (especially the exclamation mark), though perhaps that's not so important. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 11:22, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
