Winston Churchill at OTD

Good morning. According to his article, his last day in office was April 5 Bumbubookworm (talk) 19:37, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

  • I only moved Churchill from the ineligible to eligible, as the article issues have been fixed. If it was on the wrong day, then my apologies for not spotting it. Joseph2302 (talk) 10:02, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
No worries at all. Yes, some of the stuff at OTD is pretty depressing, especially with User:The Rambling Man not around much at the moment to help keep some articles accountable. Too many times my complaints about excessive use of primary sources, articles that are 80%+ sourced to one source, fishy sources, unsourced stuff etc get ignored. There is a bit too much emphasis on equality of rotation when there are plenty of articles available that are a solid B-class or above. Bumbubookworm (talk) 12:42, 13 April 2022 (UTC)

2022 AFL Women's Grand Final

Just wanted to say that I never meant to accuse anyone of sexism. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 04:20, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

Hawkeye7 Thanks for clarifying. It's a shame that some women's sports (like women's AFL) get way less coverage in media than the men's equivalents. Joseph2302 (talk) 08:16, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
Working on it. The response has been good. Lose a bit of perspective because I'm currently in Melbourne, the heart of football. The AFLW Grand Final made the front page of all the papers here, and AFLW has been mentioned in every news program since. It has exceeded all hopes. The next big step is to raise the players' salaries to six figures so they can be full time. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 23:05, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

Article delation

Hello Joseph Can you tell me hoy to a cricket player notable on Wikipedia on 2022?? I am see many articles about first class cricketer on 2021 who played only list A cricket or First class cricket the have notable on Wikipedia example Linkon Dey Mohammad Manik Salim Shahed and many players are have Wikipedia article who played only Dhaka Division Cricket League first class debut or list A debut. Tanvirnahid565 (talk) 14:40, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

I would like to add something. The articles you mentioned were all created in or before 2020. WP:OFFCRIC included DPL in nitable tournaments list until at least 2020 (the last edit of 2020 looked like this). Although if Joseph decides to nominate them there shouldn't be any objections now that they fail. Human (talk) 16:16, 14 April 2022 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
I really wanted to thank you for your patience in reviewing my DYK nominee Pytest. What I thought was understandable turns out to be just the opposite: I let my non-programmer brother read it today and he could understand nothing.

In the next few days I will try to really stand in others' shoes and rewrite this article before letting you review again. But if that still doesn't do, I won't pursue it further for DYK. Thanks again for your time. Thomas Meng (talk) 02:25, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

Ask a Question About Wikipedia notability Cricketrs

Hello please check this article Jakir Hossain he is play only one first class cricket match Asif Hossain Nirjan Bhadra this player also only play first class cricket but why this player are notable on Wikipedia. But my creating article SM Meherob why are not notable on Wikipedia?? This player play first class cricket please check all off article and if possible remove deletion policy on the top. Tanvirnahid565 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 18:44, 21 April 2022 (UTC)

On a cursory look, doesn't look like any of them are notable either. Making one appearance for a team no longer makes people presumed/likely notable, as the sports criteria has been changed recently. Joseph2302 (talk) 20:38, 21 April 2022 (UTC)

Penny Way

Hi Joseph - just to say great work with the article expansion. Thank you! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:18, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

Thanks, trying to harness any energy for Wikipedia into expanding sportspeople so they don't get AFDs started for them, rather than arguing about sports AFDs like I seem to spend lots of time doing. She came up on my list as I wrote the article on her daughter (who's now an Olympic medallist). Joseph2302 (talk) 20:37, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
Yeah, they can become a timesink. Please don't get sucked into them! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:43, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
