ITN

Hi Joseph2302! I'm a newbie Wikipedian who nominated the JWST for WP:ITN days prior to its planned launch. This was rejected for ITN. I hope you will help me understand

  • basic WP:ITN policies for future events, and
  • how ITN-related scripts/bots are disrupted by premature event proposals

Thank you for any help that you provide! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xarm Endris (talkcontribs) 13:33, 23 December 2021 (UTC)

  • Hi, Xarm Endris, we don't generally nominate articles for ITN until they actually happen- especially when the date isn't 100% confirmed, as is the case with JWST according to its article: JWST is scheduled to be launched no earlier than 25 December 2021. Because until it actually happens, it is still speculation on whether or not it'll happen, and we post what sources (newspapers/websites) are posting. Once it launches, it could be re-nominated again. As for the bot, it adds the date headers automatically at midnight (UTC) every day, so on December 25, if the header for that day already exists, then either the bot will probably create a duplicate header for that date. Which is why we don't just add the dates in the future manually. Joseph2302 (talk) 14:01, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
  • Joseph, thank you for taking the time to educate a newbie Wikipedian. This was helpful! Please archive this section at your leisure. All the best for your 2022! --Xarm Endris (talk) 07:45, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
  • No worries, and looks like it was posted on 25 December (day it launched). Joseph2302 (talk) 14:47, 31 December 2021 (UTC)

Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Forresters Manuscript

I am the creator of the Forresters Manuscript page. The book is available only as a university book, and as such is too expensive for me to own. I could only check it out from my local university library and had already returned it by the time you raised your objections. I have since checked it out again (and returned it) and I tried to correct the problems you had with the page. If anything, you might feel it now has too many footnotes. I did take notes on the pages in the book that each ballad is in, and can correct it further if you wish. K9feline2 (talk) 20:37, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

Thank you

For your work on Jerry Conine's article - much appreciated. I don't know if you're able to help with Frederick Denman's article at AfD as well. Like Conine, he's also from Tacoma, Washington. I found this with some info about his miltary career (as Lt. Frederick L. Denman). It might be nothing more can be found, which is fine. Thanks. Lugnuts I had a look on Newspapers.com and couldn't find anything unfortunately. Joseph2302 (talk) 14:32, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
