Roncesvalles Village[edit]

The normal procedure for changing an established article is to open a discussion on the article's talk page. And you put a tag on the article in question. Please do so in the future. The City of Toronto's name for the neighbourhood is Roncesvalles. The use of BIA tags for neighbourhoods is incorrect. They are entirely linked to the business organization, not a neighbourhood association or anything like that. Alaney2k (talk) 14:38, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is a note for both of you: the move was inappropriate, but it should have been resolved by moving the article back to its original title, not by copy/pasting the text as in this edit. If the software prevents such a move, please ask an admin. We now have an article with the wrong editing history, which causes licence problems. It's OK. The move was less problematic than the copy/paste restore. You're right, the page wasn't showing because I forgot to overwrite the redirect with the page text, so the article redirected to itself. I've fixed it. If you find any stray problems resulting from this, please let me know and I'll take care of them.

As an aside, I notice you've been working on Toronto-related articles, particularly neighbourhoods. If you're interested, there are several projects that coordinate various activities based on article themes: WikiProject Toronto and WikiProject Canada may match your interests. There's also a much less active WikiProject Ontario. At the very least, keep an eye on the Canada project, since we use that to coordinate discussions about articles, page moves, deletions, naming standards, etc. for all Canada-related articles. Thanks, I never get rid of anything that was already there so I moved the earlier photo to a Long Branch gallery and added a few others. Taking photos in Long Branch is a nuisance for me living in Mimico; too far away for a short walk, to close to justify using two streetcar tickets!JosephIWMolto (talk) 19:28, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

History of Toronto template[edit]

I'll second that. I do, however, want to point out that you probably shouldn't remove "main" and "see also" section links simply because you added this template to an article (we don't do this when we add an infobox either). I also think the template is misplaced in the summary article about the city - that article is not strictly about the history of the city. I'm sure others will disagree with me on this, so perhaps we could open a discussion about it on the article's talk page. Mind matrix 16:39, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't really phrase my statement accurately. What I meant was, you shouldn't do this or this- those links should stay despite the presence of the template. As for the template being on the main Toronto article, I should have said that I don't think it belongs there at all - let's only put it on articles about the city's history. It just seemed to me that a series box is mainly about access to appropriate articles (so you can go immediately to the one that interests you) and I though the main place people would try to access toronto's history would be from the history section of the main page? But the main article is already cluttered with templates and navboxes. Check the bottom of the page, and you'll find that Template:Toronto is already included, and has all those links already. Further, what happens when we create similar templates for sport, business, culture, geography, etc.? Should we include those too? That would clutter the page, or even overwhelm it. I really don't know. I'm still not that familiar with a lot in Wikipedia, I just thought that the series box was helpful and it seemed a good fast way to navigate between the different pages although how they all link together might still need some changes. If you really feel it should change perhaps you should open a discussion on the Toronto page and perhaps people who know more about it than me can suggest what is usually done? I certainly agree I don't like clutter although I've sometimes inadvertantly created some because of the limitations of my 'Wiki knowledge' (if thats what you call it!)
