That's an interesting map you added to the Ouachita Mountains article, and I believe that it is very useful. However, I doubt that you can claim copyright to it — the base image carries not one, but three copyright notices by corporate entities. It is not possible to claim copyright on works derived from other copyrighted works.

If you added the delineations for the orogenic belts and the Gulf of Mexico, I could make you a base map very similar to the one you used here, but from public domain sources, so that you could recreate the image without copyright problems.

BTW, I'm working on a topographic map of the Marathon Uplift that shows folded, twisted ridges very similar to the Ouachitas. Then a proper article on the Marathon Uplift needs to be written. --Kbh3rdtalk 19:10, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
