More on Non-commercial Images[edit]

Thanks for your post explaining the policy on non-commercial images.

I will write again to the providers to see if they will still allow the images to be used as explained under the GNFL.

I am hopeful that they will agree, as I think their main proviso was that the images could be used as long as mention was made of the source; the Glasgow Digital Library made no mention of "non-commercial use", while the Gallacher Memorial Library did mention this.

speedy deleteion of images[edit]

Speedy deletion, particularly of iamges is avaiable only for fairly narrow reasons, explicitly specified at our speedy deleteion criteria page. "Non-commercial license" is not one of those reasons. When you find an image which seems to have a non-commercial or otehrwise non-free license, please tag it with {{PUInonfree}} and follow the further instructions at WP:PUI, which include notifing the uploader of this action. This is becaue it is often possible to request and recieve full permission, givnen reasoanble time, which better serves the goals of wikipedia. Thank you. Actually, lack of a free license, and in particular the restriction to non-commercial use, is specifically listed as speedy deletion criteria I3 on WP:CSD. Furthermore, I was specifically instructed by an admin that "db|non-commercial image" was the appropriate response. -- Josh Triplett 08:25, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for correcting me on Jeff Dunham[edit]

It's an esoteric field, and if the change had been made by a registered user, I would have been more hesitant to rollback. Thanks again. BusterD 22:07, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
