March 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Flapper. When removing content, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the content has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Wikipedia is able to exist because it is a collegial project based on consensus, and when two editors disagree, they are duty-bound to discuss there differences. I have made my opinions about your changes to this article quite clear right here on your talk page, but you have not responded. Instead you revert me edits (which flies in the face of WP:BRD, which I suggest you read) and then continue to make changes which, in my opinion, do not improve the article. You have deleted sourced material and replaced it with unsourced material, or material which is apparently source but where the citation does not support the information you added, and the deletion of properly sourced material does not improve the encyclopedia.

So, this is a formal request that you discuss your changes if another editor -- myself or anyone else -- disagrees with them. The best place to do so in on the article talk page, so that other editors can join in the discussion, and a consensus can be reached. I will put a comment there now to open the discussion. Please respond -- the failure to communicate with other editors can also be grounds to be blocked from editing. I look forward to hearing your arguments in support of your material. Please stop your disruptive editing, as you did at Flapper. Your edits have been reverted or removed.

Do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively may result in you being blocked from editing. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:15, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid you're not getting the point[edit]

...which is that (1) the information you're adding is not sourced, and (2) when another editor objects to your editing you must discuss it with that editor in public so that other editors can see the discussion and add their comments - in that way a consensus can be formed. I've asked you here, and I've asked you on the article's talk page to discuss your edits, but you have refused to do so. Please do not make another edit to the article, but go instead to Talk:Flapper and tell why your edits should be accepted, and discussing the sourcing requirements. You might want to look our policies on verifiability and reliable sources as well.

You must understand, discussion is not optional, it's a necessary part of editing on Wikipedia, and if you don't intend to discuss your edits, you will not be able to edit here. If you want to improve the encyclopedia, this is something you've got to do. Beyond My Ken (talk) 20:41, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
