The Black Brians

[edit]

Hello, I noticed you were working on an article called The Black Brians. Is there any way you can establish notability for this band? I am not having any luck. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page. Thanks! - orioneight (talk) 01:59, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The article is now up for deletion. You may visit Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Black Brians to participate in the discussion. - Orioneight 02:30, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Joe,

welcome to Wikipedia! I'm sorry to see that one of your first interactions with other users is on WP:AfD. You don't really see Wikipedians at their best on Articles for Deletion. I assure you we're generally a pretty friendly bunch. You may find some of the information in our Generic Welcome Template™ useful:

Welcome!

Hello, Juanloki, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

I hope you stick around – preferably to write about stuff other than local musoes – and wish you luck with your band. fuddlemark (fuddle me!) 11:08, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Black Brians article

[edit]

Hello again, Juanloki! I sincerely apologize for not getting back to you sooner regarding your comment on my talk page (regarding the Black Brians article). Please note, however, that I didn't nominate the article for deletion . . . that was someone else. I've been really busy outside the Wiki and didn't do much major editing last week. I hope you can assume good faith and understand!

Okay, so heres the deal: WIkipedia has some pretty tough standards when it comes to notability for bands, and musicians in general. The can be found at WP:MUSIC. The good thing is that these are just guidelines, not hard-and-fast rules, so there can be leeway. Here's what I would do: read and understand the notability guidelines at WP:MUSIC, and then go expand the article to show that the band meets one of those criteria. Try to back up the information with some links; that way the information is verifiable.

And then, by all means, go to the article's deletion discussion and be heard! The community is discussing the possibility of deleting the article; let everyone know that you're working on the article and make your case. In that discussion I have said that I would like to see the article deleted because of lack-of-notability, but I'd be more than willing to change my mind if there was verifiable information proving that the band is notable.

Okay, hope that all makes sense. If you have any questions or comments, definately yell at me on my talk page! - orioneight (talk) 02:32, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
