Requested move

[edit]

User:Judyfrisk/David ParlatoDavid Parlato – Would like to create a page for David Parlato, as he the references to him on his daughter, Gretchen Parlato's wikipedia page, are becoming lengthy and would be better served on a separate page dedicated to him. Judyfrisk (talk) 20:17, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not too sure about this. For one thing, there aren't any references to David Parlato in the article Gretchen Parlato. Maybe they were recently removed? Beyond that, I question whether he's notable enough for an article. He's had a fine career it seems, but the question is does he meet the WP:MUSICBIO standard? He might, not sure -- read it and see what you think. My quick review tells me "no", unless Metropolis and Discogs and United Mutations are reliable sources (see WP:RS) which I'm pretty sure they're not.

It looks like he's mainly notable as a session musician, and session musicians don't usually get articles (obviously there are many exceptions, Donald Dunn etc etc, but I don't know if he rises to that level of notability). On the other hand, if he was an actual member of the the Mothers, that might meet #6 of WP:MUSICBIO. But it wasn't the real Mothers of Invention I guess, so I don't know.

I'd like to know more about the albums "THE CONCERT ENSEMBLE" and "A SPECIAL EDITION". They were "with Paul Horn"... how were they billed? Was it "Paul Horn and David Parloto" or were they just Paul Horn albums? If the former, that might meet #5 of WP:MUSICBIO. Ditto THAT’S HIM and THIS IS NEW, were they Frank Strazzeri albums or (partly) David Parlato albums? Ditto WATERBIRDS.

I don't know. He's maybe borderline. You need to work the Mark Weber Award, that couldn't hurt. If there was an article(s) about him (not just mentioning him) in a notable print magazine or something, that'd likely make a big difference.

Beyond that, the article needs some work -- the references need to be in-line, and some other stuff. If you want me to help you with this message me. Herostratus (talk) 05:14, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Judyfisk, I didn't mean to scare you off from working on the article. I appreciate the work you've done to date and welcome you as a new contributor, and I don't want to deprecate your contributions and make you feel unwelcome! I just wanted to warn you that the article might not pass muster and have you put a lot of work on it that might and then see it deleted as unnotable, is all. And by the way here's your official welcome, below. You can message me if you have any questions or concerns. Herostratus (talk) 16:14, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
