Fair use rationale for File:Finalistas-1.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Finalistas-1.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sasikiran (talk) 02:26, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, I am not an administrator. However, according to wikipedia's deletion policy, anyone other than the page crator can remove a speedy they disagree with. I disagreed with your speedy deletion request as the reason you gave did not meet any of the speedy deletion criteria listed here. These are the only reasons a page can be speedy deleted so your tagging was in error. Feel free to get an administrator to look at my actions but I am confident they will confirm I have done nothing wrong.

Additionally I have reverted your most recent change to this article as I have found a reliable source that says homosexuality is legal in the Dominican Republic and I have added this source to the article. I think you may be confusing the 'legality of homosexuality' which in normal English usage refers to the sexual act itself, which appears to be legal, with state acceptance of an homosexual relationship (in the form of marriage or otherwise) which does not appear to occur in the Dominican Republic. It is not "by" that date, the date is when the tag was added (roughly and in general) - and any editor can remove unsourced material if they think its the right thing to do. There are categories by date (preferences, Misc, show hidden categories) to help clear these up - ideally by sourcing the data, but if necessary by removing it. See WP:BACKLOG for more details. Regarding CSD tags

[edit]

The CSD tags are fairly narrowly defined in usage, and the tones of neither of those articles appeared to meet the strict definition of an A11 deletion at WP:CSD. This does not mean that I necessarily think the article should (or should not) remain at Wikipedia. Instead, the articles need to be more carefully considered using WP:AFD which will allow for a more deliberative discussion as to whether or not they belong at Wikipedia. Just start an AFD discussion, and if you are right on this, the articles will be deleted in 5 days. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 03:50, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I had to strike your comment as it was added after I had put {{closing}} on the AfD. Your comment was not taken into account in my close. If you have any questions about this, please get in touch. Regards SilkTork *YES! 02:07, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just a question. I f I had added my opinion in time, would it have make a difference, or not? Can this decision be reverted? can you check on this article, I proposed for delete Gaetan BucherThanks.--Juliaaltagracia (talk) 02:13, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, it wouldn't have made any difference. Even though I only became aware of it after I had closed, I did read it to see if it would have changed the decision.
I've taken a look at Gaetan Bucher. There are sources, including Time.com, but there doesn't appear to be enough to justify a standalone article. I removed the puff, and then merged the main points into the Independent Financial Centre of the Americas article. He doesn't appear to be notable beyond that company, but is enough of a part of that company to be mentioned there. Regards SilkTork *YES! 19:26, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I read your comment about Church of Jesus Christ (Bullaite), Whitfield Parish Glossop, and Derbyshire Village Mission and yes, you're right, they may qualify for deletion. If you want to nominate them for deletion then all you need to do is follow every step of WP:AFDHOWTO (it's easy!). It may be helpful to preview a page first before saving so that you're sure your edit will turn-up as you want it. – Shannon Rose (talk) 14:34, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was adding internal and external links, and also category to this article Vicini and the above user reverted them.

I reverted the page to one of the edits. My question is, is it really productive to revert edits so fast and to create a problem without even asking or warning the editors? Is this right? I'm I taking the risk of being block? I see that this editor has many complaints in his talk page for the same reason. I left a message here [[1]] but I really want to complaint in the right place. --Juliaaltagracia (talk) 04:16, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Amadeo Barletta Barletta

[edit]

Hi -- saw your thread on ANI and thought I would comment here. (I'm not an admin.) If I had seen your "See Also" link, I too would have reverted it -- although I would have used an edit summary. The reason is that an article should only have a few "See Also"s, to avoid overwhelming readers. An article as notable as Mussolini has a lot of things to link to, and using space for somebody with as little importance (relatively speaking) as Barletta is a non-starter. Editors sometimes, after a while, start to think of things like this as equivalent to spam, and deal with it impatiently. Regards, Looie496 (talk) 02:03, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

    • Thank you for your response. I really don´t know why a see so many articles tagged as Orphan, like it is a necessary to have links. Also some other editors believe that some pages can be plagued with notable people in them. --Juliaaltagracia (talk) 02:15, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

¡Hello, Julia!

I agree wih Looie on this. "See also" links should be closely tied to the subject, which I'm afraid is not the case of Barletta. He seems like an important person, but is simply not very central to Mussolini's biography.

I think that an article where you could link to Barletta is that of his native city, San Nicola Arcella. You might create a "Notable natives or residents" section there. Another article is List of Italians. I'll let you know if I think of other articles.

I hope that helps. Let me know. SamEV (talk) 20:57, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for File:Mariasela-Alvarez.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Mariasela-Alvarez.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Orphaned non-free media (File:Missworld Mariasela+Alvarez.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Missworld Mariasela+Alvarez.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:45, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Barletta.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Barletta.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 06:09, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Concurso-trivia.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Concurso-trivia.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 15:57, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. [edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Karim Mella.jpg. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, bot-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 03:00, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
