Peer review[edit]

Peer review checklist:

  1. Is everything in the article relevant to the article topic? Is there anything that distracted you?

Everything is relevant, I just think formatting changes could make it flow a bit better

  1. Is the article neutral? Are there any claims, or frames, that appear heavily biased toward a particular position?

No biases that I could find!

  1. Are there viewpoints that are overrepresented or underrepresented?

No, I think you did a great job of including unbiased information describing the benefits of third-party recycling facilities while also mentioning that there are challenges to this approach, I would just suggest expanding the “challenges” section

  1. Check the citations. Do the links work? Does the source support the claims in the article?

Vogue link only works if you are a Vogue member- is it possible to link it in pdf form?

Most citations are from brand websites but most of the article info is more generally about third-party recycling facilities- what sources is this info from?

  1. Is each fact supported by an appropriate, reliable reference? Where does this information come from? Are these neutral sources? If biased, is that bias noted?

It may be helpful to find some scholarly articles in addition to website articles from various brands

Need in-text citations

Sources seem neutral, are describing the brands

  1. Is any information out of date? Is anything missing that should be added?

A lot of the sources are articles on specific brands, but these specific brands are not mentioned in the Wikipedia article, so I would recommend including some of the brands as examples

My recommendations!

  • In the first bullet point, when you say “specific facilities” I think it could be useful to provide names of the specific facilities you will be talking about
  • It seems like fast fashion would be a big part of this topic, so perhaps it could be beneficial to mention that, specifically when you are talking about increased/faster consumption and production in the linear industry model
  • In the introduction, perhaps you could specify that a circular business model is a proposed method of reducing waste and extending clothing life
  • The paragraph on the importance of third-party recycling facilities is very good!
    • It might be helpful to mention the difference between third-party recycling facilities and traditional recycling facilities- is there a difference? Unless that is included in someone else’s section
  • In the operation paragraph, you could mention some specific ways that third-party recycling facilities educate the public/how they do it differently than a normal recycling facility
  • Is the section on sustainable clothing brands that work with third-party recycling facilities staying? If so, just add some for that!
  • For the challenges section-
    • I think overall elaborating more on each of the listed challenges would be helpful to understand why exactly they are problematic
    • For the second bullet point- who is not monetarily motivated by take-back-programs? Specify
  • More information in the future section- what are some more future concerns, future benefits, overall effects of engaging with third-party recycling facilities
  • There is mention of third-party recycling facilities helping reduce environmental harm, how do they do this? Perhaps you could include the ways that they benefit the environment
  • I’m a little confused on the “several stages include” section- should this go before the conclusion? What are these the stages of?
    • I think these sections could be developed a bit more/formatted more clearly
  • Maybe some more statistics on the amount of clothing that gets thrown away to show the size of the problem
